All,

I appreciate the hard work and effort that WDF puts into running the TF2 2Fort server. It's an excellent server with fantastic players.

Lately, however, it's been a lot less fun to play here. The problem is griefers.

Every single night since last Friday, when I've been playing, there's been at least one or two jackasses on whose sole purpose is to disrupt the game. The worst problem is people mic spamming, since there's an apparent exploit that lets them get around muting. There's also been an influx of people in who're doing stupid crap like building a wall of dispensers or teleporters with no actual intent of participating in the game. These people take up space that could be used for players who're actually there to play the game.

I play on Pacific Time, so when I'm around, it seems like admins are not. I could drop out of the game, pull up a web browser, go to this website, log on, write a message, post it and hope an admin reads it and is able to react in a timely fashion; of course, then I'd be using my time to drop out of the game, pull up a web browser, etc etc etc. It's easier just to drop out and go play something or somewhere else.

I hope in the future we can see more admins on more often, or some other type of reactionary measures against these people. Just as a nb, if people are disrupting the game, don't try reasoning or debating with them. These people aren't contributing and they're chasing off the people who are -- just ban them. There's a gazillion other servers they can go to.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.  We try to keep the servers about as asshole free as we can so that everybody can enjoy playing.  A lot of us (admins) live in the pacific time zone as the server are actually hosted in the pacific time zone.  Usually we don't mute people (i don't).  if people are mic spamming, usually they are warned to shut up, then they are kicked.  If they come back and continue they are banned.

If you need an admin right away because nobody is on the server, you should check your friends list to see if any of us are online.  My name is llenta and i'm usually always online at night even if i'm not playing.  I have no problem jumping onto the server for you and getting rid of idiots for you.  My suggestion is to add our admins to your friends list and just message us when there is a problem and we can take care of it.  It will probably work much faster then messaging here.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention.  see you on the server.

All server admins are registerd as admins on the wdfnews group. If there arn't any admins on the server you can always call up any online admin about a problem brewing in the server and they will get in the proper server ASAP. I suggest joining our group since its public and the best way to get in contact with an admin when you need one.

Feel free to steam message me anytime you see trouble makers, I'm Pacific too and am on most week nights for at least a few hours.
