Hey hey. Since i got some nice words about my posts in here, I figured I will stick around and keep this sucka active.
As the Source engine gets ready to move into its Junior year in October, community mappers are really beginning to really push the envelopes of the engine, and the results are some amazing product!

"Spring of 1945, a village somewhere around the mountainous Silesian-Bohemian borders.
The US troops are advancing rapidly due to the relocation of German troops from the west to the east.
On this day though, they've run into a refueling Panzergrenadier Regiment; the Wehrmacht troops will try to protect the valuable tanks as long as they can, while the US soldiers run the risk of overstretching their lines of supply, making this battle extremely important for both sides..."for the rest check out his page @

) Among the most notable upgrades to Hammer will be the new 3D View - Lighting Preview!
Zomg preview your maps lighting without being in-game! Here's the read from an email between the owner of

Hi Simon-
OK. First you go into one of the 2-D views and make a box with the brush tool. Then... :)
Good question. The problem with Lighting Preview is that it is not usable in the current state of our 'release' branch. And I can't merge it from our development branch to our release branch without bringing over a bunch of changes that would not coexist well with the other tools (DLL interdependencies and so forth). So the bottom line is that it will be available once we release Ep2, TF2, and Portal.

Subject: Just a question - not a help request.
Hi Mike,
I have a question regarding Hammer that I wonder if you could address for me, don’t worry it’s not another “How do I make a room?” e-mail.
I was wondering what the current state of the Hammer Lighting Preview is, or even if it exists currently. I understand it was an option at one time but crashed almost every time, are there plans to make it more stable for normal users to enable or are there complications that stop that happening?
Many thanks for your time
Great success! check out

You wanna take this to Fuck Town?
