Video card in my pos box just died and i am shit out of luck it seems .. I only have like 400 to 600 at most to spend for a new comp so i was wondering if any of you could help me find and pick out some ok parts at least cause god knows what i will need or not..I dont know what my motherboard can take as far as video cards so if you know how i can see that please help hopefully i will just need a new video card motherboard and ram ...maybe i can save my core2 duo Was looking at a 9800(what ever the gt blah blah)for the video card, I hear it was like the 8800 which is a beast and good card but better in every way looking for a basic motherboard i really don't care about these and wouldn't know what to look for if anything so if you can tell me what to look for or get more power to you .. Ram i think is pretty cheap not sure but i am sure corsair or what ever that brand is ..i dont need more then 3-4 ram anyways if i need a new cpu i am so fucked so hard , it doesn't change the fact that most people think Jews are much like the Ferengi of Star Trek. $400-$600 is plenty if that's all you need. You won't be able to get a ton of ram, but enough to get by and you can always add more later if you plan for it. I like MSI boards, myself. I've gone through ATI, ASUS, Shuttle... and I think one or two others and the motherboards never lasted. My MSI boards have lasted until I chose to upgrade them. I imagine the 9800 cards are good. I think I read the 8800 were often considered better than the 9800's, but that might have been based on value for the money which is probably not as relevant now.

Remember talking to someone who is dumb about these parts lol About the ram yea i only need 4 at most i dont render videos or shit like that so i just need enough to fit the requirements of most games it doesn't change the fact that most people think Jews are much like the Ferengi of Star Trek. well from what i can see a 9800gt geforce is alround 80 bucks ..i might just replace the video card / powersupply if i have to and maybe a new case since i have heating issues what do you think of this ?.lol http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4146085&Sku=C283-1187i know its overkill but the high airflow of this is something that would help in my room ..it gets hot here and it might be worth it to get a new box and just upgrade as i get more cash.. there use to be a smaller cheaper one but i cant find it it doesn't change the fact that most people think Jews are much like the Ferengi of Star Trek. yeah a 9800 is still pretty decent as a replacement card In an hour of Darkness a blind man is the best guide. In an age of Insanity look to the madman to lead the way.

This might be a helpful reference that I found about a week ago: http://lifehacker.com/58...ierarchy-of-video-cards
Also AMD is generally a cheaper build route without sacrificing too much performance. I'm running an AMD Phenom II x2 and an ATI 5770 with just 2 gb of DDR2 and I can still play the original Crysis at pretty decent settings (upper mid-level). I had to upgrade the power supply (it was a 650w I believe) though because after installing my graphics card the lights on my case didn't light up anymore (sketchy, huh?). Do you know the model number for your motherboard? That's probably the most important thing to know for compatibility. No problem, I found it pretty helpful, I never could make any sense of NVidia users telling me what graphics card they were using... And if you were only replacing some parts, you certainly wouldn't want to change chip manufacturers... And do you not know the model number for your motherboard? Because you could use a program like PC Wizard to figure it out. Here's the website: FIXED!Click the download link on the right (it's not a very nice looking site, so I figured I'd help you out...). Maybe I can do some real advising when you tell us the model number :P And I would consider which upgrade path is going to benefit you more in both immediately and in a couple of years. Also, read this: FIXED!and this: FIXED!I feel so useful! Quote:Razor: As hard as one might try no one will ever be able to pull one over on Super Penguin. Backpack of Win
