I played a demo or something of it (maybe a pirated copy... can't remember) and decided I really couldn't stand it. I know it's odd, but I really got use to stacked units in Civ4.

Tell me about this Civ5 game of which you speak. For less than $20, Crawdad and I might be interested in a copy or two of it. Belligerent Pimp wrote: The Man Society just suspended my man card for a week for getting rickrolled by Mrs. Mary Midwestern Housewife.

Rik, the fact that they removed the stack-of-doom pretty much saved Civ5 for me. Also, have you never played Civilization before, Mrs. C? That's kind of like saying you have no idea who Mario is. Mario who? No, I've never played Civ before. I'm pretty much a one-trick pony when it comes to video games. Belligerent Pimp wrote: The Man Society just suspended my man card for a week for getting rickrolled by Mrs. Mary Midwestern Housewife.

Well, obviously he stacking mechanic was iffy when it came to attacking in Civ4, but it allowed you to build what felt like huge attack forces. With Civ5, it's just underwhelming. And to build a big force you have to move every one of them individually, which is a pain in the ass, and takes up epic amounts of map. And on top of that... there seemed to be something else about the control interface that just frustrated the hell out of me, but I can't recall exactly what it was now.

I'm with Rik, to be honest. I love Civ 4 a tad bit more than 5. Duck has been on me to buy Civ 5 for a while now, and since it was on sale I caved. I like the single player of Civ 5, but multiply player in Civ 4 is much better. And Mrs. C, I would recommend a demo and see how you like it! It's a very laid back game, but it does have quite a bit of a learning curve. Demo it and see what you think. :) wrote:{pDs} TitaniumPhoenix: We're Mexican. I agree that the armies take up way way way more space than they should. I really like the crazy natural wonders thing, like Mt. Fuji and whatnot. Thats pretty cool. I miss Lenord Nemoy though. I convinced some of my real world friends to buy Civ V recently and we have been playing almost every night (my friend gets off work really late which is annoying, but oh well). Civ V to me seems easier to get into than Civ 4. Rikaelus: There's a Civ V mod out there that re-enables troop stacking. I haven't tried it, but I read about it a couple of days ago. Everyone: We need to get a pDs game of Civ V going apparently, there's more people with it than I thought (and we might even be able to get Duck and TiPhx in there since it's not really connection-intensive). I do wish that multiplayer didn't force you to depend on autosaves though. That really sucks in my opinion, autosaves just seem to get lost. Yeah, we've run into that problem a few times, haven't we Penguin. It can be really fun though, especially when you can just chill and chat with one other while waiting for that one guy to finish his policy-choosing :P

I liked 4, I like 5, it's basically 2 different games. 5 is more graphically pleasing and I love the civics, whereas 4 is much better for multi-player and faster loading. In a nutshell I think 4 is better for online, 5 for solo. Turn-based civ game never had a better choice.
