Why should I donate, the server is up for renewal for n months? The donations don't go for the next billing cycle, the go to repay my for the last renewal. I initially front the $300 and then over the course of the billing cycle, I recoup that from donations.
How long is the billing cycle?
6 months in order to get a rather significant discount and help bring stability (in terms of consistently being up and at the same IP) that previous servers lacked.
How do we know that you aren't squandering our donations?
Well I am, but you giving me money to squander to repay money that instead of squandering, I spent for the clan.
If we repay you all the money, then you aren't contributing!
I contribute by setting up and managing the server. I am also taking a fairly substantial financial risk ( as a starving college student, $300 is a lot of ramen noodles after all). Also paypal takes a small percentage of the donations as a fee, which I don't count in the total. So by the time $300 has been donated, I've actually only recieved about $290, so think of that $10 as my contribution financially.
What if I don't have a paypal account?
You can still enter credit or debit card info on the paypal page and donate that way.
Paypal is evil and I refuse to use it!
If you really can't or won't use it, PM me and I will send you a mailing where you can cash or checks.
