So I got this $75 gift certifrycate for Amazon and I didn't know what to do with it. I almost bought some legos but I realized I'd just lose them over time. I decided to get something that my future offspring could enjoy...so I got the entire box set for Dragonball.

I really would have rather gotten the complete Calvin and Hobbes or Farside collections, but they were more like $150. I didn't have that kind of money.

Man, when I was 8-15, I didn't know who the hell any of the X-men were besides Wolverine (cuz he was basically the main character), Storm (cuz she was black, kinda), and Beast (because he was nekkid). I knew Superman existed, but I still don't know who the author/artists are. The fact that I think Akira Toriyama and Ruroni Kenshin first when someone asks me about a classic comic book makes me wonder if I'm a terrorist.

I hope I'm not a terrorist.

I just wanted to share with my demon spawn what I enjoyed as a kid. Anyway, thats all. I'm happily reading my 3 pounds of comic books at work today. Just wanted to let y'all know.

I don't much know comic books of any culture but I certainly won't look down on someone who likes Ruroni Kenshin. The cartoon they made of that is, by far, one of my favorites of all time. Dragonball is also a guilty pleasure.

What version did you buy? The original when he's a kid? I love the sound he makes when he runs on the Japanese track.

Yeah, I got the original Dragonball set. And as far as cartoons go, its probably the best English dubbed anime out there. I love the Turtle Hermit voice actor, he's hilarious.

There's a lot more nudity than I remember...although I do remember in the english version they have this really poorly drawn swimsuit for Goku when he's actually naked...heh. Even as a kid, I was like "Whaaa, come on that was lame."

And yeah, I loved Calvin and Hobbes. Also, I buy lots of games and play almost all of them - but not in $150 chunks.

Sorry for going off topic, but I feel I must bring you... The Calvin and Hobbes Search Engine (Every Calvin and Hobbes comic ever printed via a tasty keyword/date searchable engine)

My favorite of all time is this one. (though any of the snowmen related comics come in close second)

Cheers, -G?!

I found a video of the voice actors for Dragon Ball Z recording their lines awhile ago.
It consisted almost purely of screaming.
Definitely the best part of Dragon Ball Z is the ridiculous voices, it is so over the top lol.

Yeah, DBZ was fun.. you just have to enjoy the silliness of it all. It's just painful trying to watch through all of it. I lose interest mid-way through the Buu series, so can't quite finish it. DBZ Evolution would help that if it's abridgedness went through all the sagas.
