Heyo guys. I was updating some programs when I thought about this - since y'all are pretty PC savvy, what do you guys use on your computers for virus protection/removal and general maintenance? As for me, I use CCleaner, Degraggler, Recuva, and Speccy for general stuff. Piriform makes some really great free stuff. For antivirus stuff, I use Avast! and Malwarebytes. Honestly, I only use Avast since its free and I saw it in Cartoon vs. Creator. Norton costs money and is kind of clunky, imo. I also like the updating voice. =D Malwarebytes has gotten several virus thingers that Avast couldn't, so I also like it. Anyone else want to share? You should probably mention whether its free of not, or is subscription based. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

I finally took the plunge and just bought one of the big Norton packages. There's a yearly fee but it's peace of mind, and I don't have to jumble multiple third party freebees of questionable quality.

I didn't like AVG - too many false positives. Also, if I remember correctly, it was a devil to uninstall. =\ If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Used to run AVG, then jumped to Avast when I read it had better detection. CCleaner for most of my system maintenance, including any program installs/uninstalls. It seems to detect programs that Windows utilities won't. MagicISO for virtual disc mounting. Muffalopadus wrote:I also like the updating voice. NOD32, Malwarebytes, Hijackthis, Process Explorer, CCleaner, Defraggler. Best combo. NEVER USE NORTON! Jeeps don't get stuck, they just take breaks. TripleBam wrote:That's the most spastic fucking pissing match I've ever seen. Good god.

So whats this NOD32 thing I've heard about. Apparently its pay to use, so I'm kind of turned off already. D= Heh, I have also been disturbed in my sleep by norton. Once it was actually a virus!
