My initial reaction is that these mixes are definitely a divergence from the previous six or so mixes I have from the [ djmidnight ] era. Whereas before they felt like novels with thematic repetition and various statements in the form of lyrical interaction and remix, the current offerings feel more as like a linear exploration from theme to theme. There seems to be much less emphasis on combining two disparate slices of sound and instead reveling in one really good slice at a time. Given the tempo differences, I liken it to smashing your face in the pie versus savoring one slice at a time (or, if you will, like eating a pie for the first time... without the aid of marijuana). Both methods have their merits, there just happens to be a noticeable difference between the two. In fact, I'd attribute much of the difference more on the feeling of tempo difference than anything else. Does that make sense? Probably not.

The mixes offered here are, above all, much appreciated as my need for a new mix had steadily been growing since I downloaded Midnight 21 so many moons ago, and I should hope my onerous threat on the eve of your birthday had something to do with it. (I have an inflated view of my self, yes.)

Thanks for these, 3bam, and once again happy bday.
