It is horrible seeing how a hospital runs.

I had to call 911 for the first time in my life. The past 2 days have been the total shits in my life.

Sorry I had to rant something somewhere.

My moms had an intracranial bleed. As stubborn as she is to go to a clinic for something let alone a hospital she agreed that I should phone the ambulance. This happened since wednesday evening. Since then they been given 2 cat scans 1 with contrast injection, a whole lot of morphine, and a couple of Tylenol 3's. She's also had at least 1 lumbard puncture. For those that don't know they stick a needle in your spine to retrieve spinal fluid, from what I know that procedure is a painfull bitch. The first 1 they didn't get any so they are gonna do another one probably later.

So yeah welcome to my hell week.

I'll keep you and your mother in my prayers, Splinter.

I certainly hope that she is feeling better soon and is able to go home. I'm guessing they can't figure out what is going on?

The problem is that they don't know what caused the bleeding. That's what has me the most worried. Also I'm somewhat in the dark as of now since they had to move her to a different hospital where they have a better neuroscience section.

For now I'm stuck at home until tomorrow since I don't know my way to the hospital she's being transferred to. One of my friends that knows the area better offered to give me a ride then.

Well the hospital fucked up and that's never a good sign. All through the morning yesterday they kept telling me and everyone else that my moms was being transferred to a hospital a few towns over.

But after she was transferred we were told that no she was never moved to that hospital and that she was actually taken to Vancouver General Hospital. Abbotsford Regional Hospital is a brand new hospital which was just opened only 2 years ago. Ever since we got there she's been moved over 5 damn times.

This was before they even gave her morphine so this was the worst part. Then they screw up telling me where they were gonna send her which in the end she got sent to a completely different hospital altogether. That place is way to unorganized and that's severely rather important.

The only upside to that hospital is that I could practically live over there If I wanted to. There is no visitor hours, I could just stay there over night like I've been doing the past 2 nights. In Vancouver General they wouldn't allow me to spend the night so that got me down.

I'm still rather pissed that it took between 4-5 hours from when she was admitted to the hospital just to get her painkillers. The first thing they finally gave her was morphine which is good. The first time they asked her "Between the numbers 1-10 ten being the most painfull you ever had, what are you experiencing?" She replied with 15, since the morphine she said it came down to an 8.

Although still painfull at least the worst part of the pain is gone.

I hear ya. My experiences with hospitals lately has been similar-they can be amazingly disorganized at time and seem to take way too long to do things.

When my wife was in the hospital the first time this year for heart palpitations, even though the problem was apparent, we were in the emergency room, and she was with child, they still took forever to get her into a room. There was barely anyone even there waiting. And when they did get her in suddenly they scrambled and there were about 6 people tending to her in the tiny room. She was asked the same question multiple times, they kept having to confirm others had done certain things. It was chaos, and I didn't have much faith in their coordination of it. "Too many cooks in the kitchen" came to mind. If she were older or in bad shape the wait could have lead to cardiac arrest.

Then when she was in labor, in excruciating pain and wanting to give up on trying to do vaginally, we had to wait 5-10 minutes just for them to up the morphine dose since they had to wait for the anesthesiologist to limp in on his injured leg. 5-10 minutes of her having completely pointless, incredibly painful contractions. I wanted to strangle someone.

It's kind of scary to wish for ERs/hospitals to act like we see them on television. Despite the drama they write into all those shows, at least they usually get the job done more efficiently.

Day 4 of hell continues in my life. Managed to get in a good half hour of visiting hours total for the entire day since she had to be given a test near lunch. Also signs of improvement arise as she's also now finally given a green light for solid foods. She's gone 4 days without eating and that's mostly cause of the morphine she's being given which unfortunately causes nausea. After awhile they gave her a cocktail of morphine and liquid gravol. Gravol you can actually buy in pill form at your local drug store which helps alot with nausea.

Other then being told that she had a bleeding brain there still hasn't been much spotlight on the more important situation. Like what caused it, does she still have it, is she still in a red zone of danger, can they fix it.

I got so much on my head and with only 1 answer given out of 4 days I'm getting rather impatient.

Well things aren't looking good. They did minor surgery having a tiny camera inserted through her leg and all the way up to the brain. They still didn't find anything. We've been told that from there, there are 2 possible options. 1 is to redo that minor surgery and try the camera thing again or 2nd which is at most worst case scenario, is to go to the source. Brain surgery. That's the last thing she needs is for people even if they are qualified and what not to be poking around the head.

Worst part of it is that before this disaster happened she's been watching the TV show house and saw already a few episodes of people having drills to their skulls. Now she's facing that reality, she was already afraid of the camera surgery but now direct surgery on the brain man. I can't even imagine what she's thinking or having to deal with that idea.

Couldn't see her today since we were told she was getting another test done and with such limited visiting hours and the rather long drive we thought it was best to wait till they finished that 2nd test. I'm going over to visit tomorrow and see whats up and hopefully gather more info on whats wrong.
