Epic Trailer
In an hour of Darkness a blind man is the best guide. In an age of Insanity look to the madman to lead the way.

I applied for the Beta yesterday for both PC and PS3. I'm going to be playing one of three MMORPGs after being out of the game for 5 years.

Knights of the Old Republic is currently #3, I need to see some more before I make a decision.

Final Fantasy XIV #2 Because I didn't get into the Beta. Also FFXI was poorly managed by SE and it was a constant grind that required your life so I am wary of jumping into XIV

DC Online is #1 I love superheroes and comics so this is like a dream come true. I fear it may not be hardcore enough though.....

I creamed.

Also, DarkIllumina, it's called The Old Republic. Come on man, catch up. Also, they released a SW Universe book based ont he plot from ToR. Go pick it up. That'll be your deciding factor.

Epic fail on my part. I was looking at the icon on my desktop for KOTOR when I posted that =)

Will read book and decide. Thanks for the info.

You know the more I look at this, the more I see a glorified City of Heroes/Villains

That's a pretty morbid trailer. I'd say it disinclined me from buying it but... it wasn't really on my list yet, anyway. It definitely seems tailored to more to DC fans than the general populace, who are use to seeing crazy comic book deaths and resets.

Here's the full trailer, it explains Superman's 5-o'clock shadow and the destroyed city.

My friends and I are all pretty excited for The Old Republic, they're all major Star Wars fans though lol, the only reason I would play an MMO is if I know people who play it as well, otherwise, it just gets incredibly tedious and boring in my opinion. I played WoW for about 8 months and then I just got sick of it and stopped. I've always hated subscription fee for these games, I mean why play an MMO that can cost hundreds of dollars over the game's lifespan while Valve is out here still cranking out free content for TF2 (although at a much slower pace). It just seems ridiculous to me.

It's been a while since I read much about TOR but I wasn't lined up as being very impressed. It was starting to sound like Dragon Age Origins with an online component; so focused on story (which Bioware is known for) that multiplayer components would feel like a secondary thought.

A strong story would likely feed into one of my major dislikes of MMO's, too. If the story is presented heavily on a per-player basis then the communal interaction with the story suffers. Continuity can't really exist when every player does the same quest that couldn't realistically happen multiple times. I prefer the EVE approach. It's more realistic.
