And it's on the Wii. And it's made by Eurocom, which has done nothing but half-assed licensed games in the last 8 or so years. ...I really hope they don't butcher the greatest game I've ever known, but I have a feeling they will. Win Cookies Awarded: 7 (bawwwwww)

Nostalgia is a powerful thing, no? Rofl. I am sorry, but that looked like crap. I love how nintendo can throw a pile of steaming shit on the table, slap a licence and a promise on it, and walk away smiling as they hear their customers feverously muching on thier turd. I hope you wont all be disappointed. but you will be. here is what the original golden eye had going for it, THAT this one will not. 1. First person console shooters were not developed well, and previously not very popular. Golden Eye really figured it out and did it right. 2. It was the first to successfully integrate console multiplayer, but really it was the first console to support a console multiplayer experience because it offered 4 ports standard. 3. Console players hadnt experienced story driven FPS games. 4. Everybody thought it was revolutionary, which it was for consoles. What this game has going for it: 1. None of the above. What this game has going against it: 1. its on the Wii 2. Its competing with games that have taken the story driven FPS experience to a fine polish 3. it looks like its a sequel to Golden eye, but should have came out in 2002. 4. Did i mention its on the Wii? Quote:

It makes sense that it's on the Wii, seeing how the original came out on the N64. It would most definately be better if it was on the xbox 360 or ps3, but it makes sense on the Wii. This doesn't look like a sequel to Goldeneye, it looks like it's the same damn game, just new and with daniel craig, which isn't a big deal imo. I won't be buying a Wii, so I'll probably never play it. That's okay though, because I was never very good at the original.

I was gonna say that is sucks that it's on the Wii, but considering its a Nintendo game, I really couldn't contest it that much. King of Jeans I wanna be like Buddylee 007 for life

And as Perfect Dark on XBLA manages to nail it (except on the graphics)... Goldeneye's not getting the love. Where's the love? Win Cookies Awarded: 7 (bawwwwww)

Wasn't the original the one where everyone had an oversized head? Yeah.. I never played it much. I didn't have an N64 and didn't know anyone who did. I think I saw it maybe once... maybe played it at someone's house... But I digress... This looks idiotic... 1. It's on a console. PCs are the ideal environment for FPSers. Even XBox and PS3 would be better than Wii. 2. It kinda looks like it plays like damn near every other shooter out there... 3. It'll look like ass because.. it's on the Wii... 4. It's scale will suck since... it's on the Wii... (anyone play Force Unleashed on the Wii then another console? yeah... like that) I wasn't even a fan of the original and I can see this looking like ass. If I were a fan I'd be SO pissed off.

More rehashed shit from Nintendo. All they do is release a new Mario, Zelda or half-ass remake and the fans hail them for it. Well when you're a sheep you're a sheep. Fuck I miss the Nes/Super Nintendo/Genesis/PS 1 days when there was some variety in gaming. I'm the leetest one here

Its so annoying when Nintendo releases crap, and its even more irksome when they make tons of money off of it. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Muffalopadus wrote:Its so annoying when Nintendo releases crap, and its even more irksome when they make tons of money off of it. This. I'll give credit where it's due. Wii is good for party games, but even those are beginning to dry up. A few others can be decent on it. Most genres will suck, especially compared with the same genre being played on other consoles or the PC. Frankly I wanted to reach into that video and strangle the people around the table who thought GoldenEye was some sort of godsend; something never done in any way, shape, or form before. I played Wolfenstein 3D. I played Spear of Destiny. I played Doom. I played Doom 2. I played Duke Nukem 3D. GoldenEye was NOT the cat's meow in terms of FPSers, multiplayer or single. Maybe it was for consoles but then you're narrowing your vision so specifically that the opinion is worthless. What's this game mean? It means that even Nintendo realizes how bad they're starting to look rehashing Mario, Zelda, and Sonic in fifty different ways over the course of a few years. The party game environment is now saturated and they have no way to stand out.

I agree that I don't expect much from this. I remember when they claimed that Twilight Princess would be the best 3D Zelda they've ever made, but it wasn't even close to that. The aspects that made Ocarina of Time so successful were at the time renowned and what TP offered had nothing compared to it. Also, I've never seen a remake of a game in which the graphics look like it's still from the original console. I've also ditched Nintendo because they've managed to whore their legacy of Mario/Zelda/Metroid games to the point of nausea. I find it incredibly ironic how different the Wii is compared to other consoles yet their software is the most rehashed garbage, especially this generation. It's really sad because Nintendo was my go-to growing up and have a lot of great memories with my SNES and NES. Oh well. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name Jessica343: so I can get heals {pDs} Lead Salad: oh damn good idea {pDs} Lead Salad has changed their name to {pDs} Lead Salad (is a girl) Jessica343: hahah

. QFT. i said this months ago in the golden eye review by final gamer. and i was crucified. You should expect pitch forks and torches on your doorstep this evening. I actually legitamately burst out laughing at that part of the video...it was so rediculous. I wonder if Nintendo always fills its survey groups with "Yes men". Quote:

I remember that, I suppose it's because Goldeneye had the same reaction from people in the same way Final Fantasy VII did. It was the first game of that genre that a lot of people ever experienced, a genre that had only been limited to a smaller hardcore audience, even on predecessor consoles like Doom on the SNES. I'll be honest, Goldeneye was the first first person shooter I remember playing, I love it immensely, but I do not consider it the BEST one. No, that distinction goes to Perfect Dark because it improved everything on Goldeneye AND had an original storyline. But despite that, I want to see this game done well. I really hope it does do well, maybe Eurocom might actually put some effort into this, under the immense strain of nostalgia that exists on it. But regardless, this thread's made me put my feet back on the ground and now I feel a lot better about being WAY more excited for Epic Mickey than for Goldeneye. "Videogames are bad for you? Here's my plan. 1)look forward to game (positive) 2)rent game (positive) 3)enjoy game (positive) 4)buy game (positive) 5)keep playing game (positive) 6)sell game when bored with it (positive) as opposed to 1)discontented groan (negative) 2)get into arguments about why game is "bad" (negative) 3)never play game (neutral) if we assign point values to these, I come out with 6, the opposition with -2, possibly -1.5 if we count the neutral as an "action" as a gamer raised on the PC, then acquiring a console, I'll say that Goldeneye was a fuckton of fun, got my friends together and made the nights awesome. Was it the greatest game ever? Was it even all that great? Here's my answer. At the point where the hallmark of a game is whether or not it was better or worse than another, you have completely lost sight of what good, fun gaming is.I too grew up first playing Doom, Doom 2, Quake, DN3D, etc etc etc (slowly putting hand down my pants at how many old games i played). Here's what Goldeneye did. You can play it with your friends. In the same room. Without a single LAN cable or network hub. Simple as that. This gives it its place in our hearts and minds. With that same calibre of action coming again to the screen--keep in mind that online play now dominates the multiplayer scene, it'll be a nice throwback to be able to sit down on the couch with three friends and run through Refinery like the old days, now with new tech, new designs and new ideas in play. Safety + Peace
