A flip of a coin determined that my group of pals saw the film "Splice" this weekend. OHHH BoY. Chance just fucking blew our minds. I am nominating this for "best fucked up picture you have to see this year". Let Splice take you on an emotional rollercoster...you will laugh, cry, be anxious, maybe aroused(?), feel fear, anger, sympathy....ITS GOT IT ALL FOLKS! I will not post any spoilers, and advocate that nobody else does, because going into that movie not expecting to see some of the shit you see is really 90% of the experience. I will say that at the end, Fade to black, the theater was completely quiet. You could have heard a pin drop. Then Cecil-san, in a moment of genius, starts to slow clap. theater lawls ensued. Quote:

Crawdad and Skeet also saw it this weekend. I made the choice not to join them, and was not sorry. Belligerent Pimp wrote: The Man Society just suspended my man card for a week for getting rickrolled by Mrs. Mary Midwestern Housewife.

Looks too much like a Species rip-off for me to take seriously. And... I generally don't like those kind of movies, anyhow.

It definitely takes a page out of the species playbook, but its much deeper story than that shitty movie. I wouldnt classify this as a sci-fi horror, exactly. Its more of a sci-fi psychological thriller. It deals with ethical genetic engineering, marriage, parenting, human rights. There is even an adam and eve element in there. Quote:

Sounds like an intelligently-written piece of film that actually requires something of the viewer, rather than the hyper-passive overstimulation that's become the passing fad of popular cinema. While I can see how that might put some off of it, I have one question. Can I take a girl to it? Safety + Peace

Can I take a girl to it? Only if you have known her for a while. It's got a couple fucked up scenes. Definitely not a 1st through 10th date movie. I made the joke to endyss that he should never let his wife see this film or his already tenuous chances for offspring any time soon might be dashed Quote:
