Rofl.

It's like a test activision is conducting on how much they can literally squeeze out of the fans. I mean what is their breaking point so they can graph a 5 year plan on raising franchise costs to the absolute maximum without having a negative sales effect. Shit this game is going to cost some suckers 300+ dollars to finish the single player game.
I personally don't look forward to every franchise game price point becoming 75-100 dollars in the future just because of this.

You know...I just might not be getting SC2 until...I dunno, it comes to steam? Maybe I'll get it then. =\

I used to respect Blizzard, but an estimated $120 dollars for a new game is starting to seem fairly dumb. That being said, I'll sigh and buy SC2 anyway because I'm addicted to custom maps.

The problem is that we are all gaming junkies and the dope man knows we need SC2 fix bad. When you're jones'n, you'll pay whatever it takes.

What a rip off. I would never buy a game for that price unless it was an old collectible like Suikoden II.

Giller hit it right on the head, Activision is squeezing consumers for all they're worth but the sad part is the lemmings are buying into their crap. Case in point the MW2 'stimulus' package which is all of 4 maps and cost 15 dollars.

I can live without Starcraft. I didn't really enjoy the first one that much and Blizzard's products have always been 'meh' to me.

I never pirate games but if I ever wanted to play an activision game............

Also the vanilla version is 59 bucks. Only Activision has charged more than 49.99 for a PC game. Dragon Age retailed for 49 bucks as did Bad Company 2. I can't believe they are pulling this crap and getting away with it.
I'm the leetest one here

Sadly, that's the model most dev companies are trying to have now. As a result, buying some games will become a type of financial investment. You won't simply walk into a store and buy 2-3 games for a couple of bucks and be done with it. Nope. You'll have to invest upwards to $100 for a single game + bonus content fees + the possibility of subscription fees (dependent, but likely). Because of this upwards shift to making games more like an investment, and due to the pressures of making such games and keeping things "standard" (I hate that word >>), a lot of developers who used to make huge games are leaking into the independent scene. Heck, half of my current contacts in the indie scene don't want to make the jump to commercial game development because A) they don't want to make games that have to be justified by cost and tons of content people may never care about and B) the environment you're forced to work in isn't always (if not at all) fun.

On that note, no, I won't be buying all 3 versions of Starcraft 2, even though I love that game to death. It's not worth upwards to $200 when half of the game really isn't any better than the original in some areas. =P
