We now have a server that is completely under our own control (and is semi-affordable to boot)! Hooray and champagne for everyone.

Now that we all have a place to play, we really need to address the problem of our festering roster of members.

I am completely in agreement with Whut on his view of permanent membership for everyone...unless your douchebaggy-ness is significantly greater than the average level of our members. Whatever. I'm just saying that no one is going to have to re-join the clan.

We at least have a focal point for the group (the tempest). That is the bare minimum, as far as I'm concerned. We enjoy playing on it and the donations provide a sense of ownership.

The next important thing for our group is a place to congregate when not playing. Enter: WDFnews.com! The forum is a great place to share funny crap and bitch at each other. No active, invested member of the clan has any real control over this forum currently. Whut is on his siesta, and Sirus is only helping us out because of some honor bound debt he must feel. Thats the only reason I can think of.

The forum is custom built. Sirus is the only one with the user manual, and its in his head.

We need to move to another forum. A clean start, so to speak.

This may be hard for some people. "Who is this uppity youngster, telling us what to do?" grumbles the older members. "I've been in this clan since before the internet was even around." Great. Thats what this forum is for. Stay here and reminice with each other.

Meanwhile, the pDs clan needs a new place to congregate. Mostly because we can't do anything here besides post and poll and grumble.

I'm not sure which forum provider thingy we'll be using, but I'm putting this out here. Bookmark your favorite threads, save your funny .gif images, and download your avitar. We're going to be moving.

...and don't worry. Even if we can't preserve your "join date", we'll be able to save your post count. :D

I'm a little fascinated by this. What is it exactly that you need to do with a forum besides posting and grumbling?

Well, being able to access stuff would be nice. We can't upload images to the forum (medals). We can't add smilies. We can kind of delete stuff, but not really. If the forum breaks for some unknown reason, the clan is completely dependent on Sirus or you to fix it...if you even notice.

I dunno. Since you left, it seems prudent that we need a pdsnews.com instead of a wdfnews.com.

Your point is completely valid though. Thats the main reason I had to contend with myself to justify the move.

Site admins can currently do all of these things, short of changing the donation button.
