It's that time again... where we lan... at my house. Anyone remember last year? I don't. I was pretty trashed. So here's the deal. Due to the economy, me losing my job (found out yesterday that our show was cancelled), and not having any money, this year's Penguinlan won't be as "xtreme" as last years. We won't be having live DJ sets and we won't be having ten foot Rockband. We will, however, have tons of BBQ and Booze. We will have lots of Hottub and Video Games. This year it will take place at the new Pwnzord HQ. Imagine the last house... then multiply the awesome factor by 9000. So, when is this awesome shit happening? August 21-23. Those of you who are still confused about what this is... here's the wrap-up thread from last year: http://www.wdfnews.com/w...guinlan-2K8-WrapUp.aspx
Those of you who can make it, here's what to bring: Computer (duh) Mouse Keyboard Monitor Headphones Booze Power Cables Good Attitude Booze Anything else you think you might need Booze. For those of you traveling long distance, we have the following available on a first come first serve basis so that you don't have to travel with it: 6x 19" CRT Screens 3x Spare Keyboards 2x Spare Laser Mice 9000x various power and component cables 5x Headphones 0x Good Attitude We don't have spare computers. If you want to play with us, you'll need that. Please note that we also have an Xbox 360 and a Wii... so if you decide not to bring your rig you can play that shit. We also have a media archive containing over 460 blu-ray films and 30 or so full television series, all watchable on our 56" funtube. Here's the schedule for Penguinlan: Friday 8/21: Meet and greet. This would be a good day to arrive. We'll be getting people situated in terms of rig setups and space allocation. We'll also be meeting people and catching up with old friends. We have a ton of space, but prime real estate will be given out on a first come first serve basis. There are two couches. The rest of you will take the floor. Remember that. Also, we have more than enough clean, and I repeat, CLEAN pillows, blankets, etc. Nothing makes me feel grosser than sleeping on other peoples dirty pillows and blankets... so I make sure our spares are super clean. Saturday 8/22: Party. Those of you that were here last year or the year before remember this part. Sadly it won't be as epic as last years, but it should be pretty fucking fun. This is when we put the lan on hold for the most part and socialize. This is also when we invite all of our other real friends over for some party and stuff. It's a good time. SirLordPoop will most likely get hammered and make a jolly ol' fool of himself. Not to be missed. Sunday 8/23: Ouch day. WTF was I thinking last night?!?!?! This will be the day of homemade breakfast/hangover cures. This will also be the last time to lan it up. Friday and Sunday will be the major lan days. Everyone must gtfo of here by 11pm Sunday. It is also important to know that my house is fucking incredible. We have lasers. Games we will be playing: Sins of a Solar Empire TF2 That's it so far. I'm open to suggestions. I really hope a few of you can make it this year. I know it's short notice and the date, unfortunately, has changed due to Sirus and Dick Cheney attending burning man during PAX. Lead Salad... wanna be my PAX buddy this year? [13:58] TheSpaniard84: I have a kitty stuck to my rump [13:58] WhuTdufK: I suppose that's better than what's normally stuck to your rump.

Lead Salad's a good PAX buddy. He's got a pretty face, swallows, and provides weed on request. HolyJaw wrote:In the end, everything Endyss said.

lol. Sure, I've also got an embarrassing immature high school friend who wants to go too.. to PAX I mean, I'm not bringing that fucker to penguinlan. If you need financial assistance let me know. I'll toss you some money anyways, although a portion of that will be for alcohol requests since I'm 19.

And your Wii works now, yeah? Last party you said the power cord was missing. Yeah, Whut's house is a ton of fun and the people there will be similarly enjoyable. If you're in the Seattle area or even in WA you are out of reasons to not come to this. There will be people drinking. There will be people not drinking. There might be people you don't know, but that's called socializing. I for one, will be making extra effort to make sure everyone feels included and welcome and that they're having a good time. I might even be able to give people rides, because these gatherings are a ton of fun and a really solid way to meet new people and have a good time with like-minded nerds. PS: Can I PAX with you guys too? Safety + Peace

I really need to restock the bar. I have two computers in my room, it's possible one or both of them will occasionally be free for use depending on what my girlfriend and I are up to. I also have a spare ps/2 keyboard, it's kind of dirty and old (just like me) but it's available for use if anyone needs it. I've got clean blankets as well, and an inflatable mattress but it is designed for backpacking so it's somewhat narrow and very expensive, if someone borrows it it is with the explicit understanding that any damage will require its replacement. If you really want to get hardcore I've got two tents that can be set up, they are technically two-person but unless you are on very good terms with someone I'd say they are better suited for one person each. Again, expensive backpacking gear that will require replacement if damaged. Razor wrote:Killing people is good therapy.

Sounds like it will be a badass party man. Since I live in the area, I'll see what I can do pending an intense work schedule next month. It'll be nice to meet you all and have a good time (i.e. get shitfaced and play some games).
At the very least, I'll be at PAX for sure. Since I live so close, I would be crazy not to go.

You can count on a pie or two from the crawdads. We won't be able to make it (what with the long distance travel and such), but I promise to send pie for all to enjoy (or Whut if he hoards it). Again, I'll have to pass for this year. I live way far away, and I don't think I could make plans for such a long trip in a short amount of time. Make room for penguinlan 2010! Also, I'm a blackberry fan too. Pie plz? If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Leaving for Vegas tomorrow. I'm thinking of stopping by Defcon. I know some of you have been there before. Anything I should make a point to check out?
