I was reading a thread on the Steam forums and got to thinking... What do people who play on the Tempest servers use to gain a competitive advantage? What scripts and what do they do? Bind certain actions to different keys/mouse buttons? Me personally, I don't use anything. Stock settings.

TF2 wise, I use binds, a custom reticle, and a few custom keys. I have my melee weapon assigned to Mouse 2, and my primary and alternative set to a weapon switching bind ("E" key toggle) allowing me to fire both with Mouse 1, much faster. My reload is on my scroll down wheel, "MEDIC!" is set on the scroll button, voice chat is on shift, special ability action is on "Q" -- all these actions aren't custom binds like the previous ones I just mentioned, but they work well with the binds already in place. =P Basically, all this amounts to better long-mid-close combat, versus the stock settings that prohibit that level of visceral combat in 0.2 seconds (usually) when your forced to change up your tactics immediately. ........hence why I can do so well with the Spy and Demo. =P DredNaught wrote:In regard to the ladies... or lack thereof: Just remember that it's about quality, not quantity. I have a pretty non-standard binding I use in anything first person. Forward is right mouse button, z is left strafe, x is back, c is right strafe. Besides the movement I usually bind other useful stuff to the keys near it, like shift is always crouch, or F is reload or use depending on game, a is often some kind of weaponswitch (preferably lastweapon), nades or whatever are usually q or w. I spent a lot of time on my configs to customize everything. I customized cross hairs for every class and weapon to my personal preference. I added an ubercharge message for medic when I right click with the medigun. I added a forward respawn hot key and hot keys to equip different loadouts (which used to work wonderful until they took out the equip command). I added a key to display timeleft and netgraph, so I can still see the info I want to just not have it constantly taking up a corner of my screen. Everything else is pretty much the same, except with scout where I have the weapon model disabled for scattergun only. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name Jessica343: so I can get heals {pDs} Lead Salad: oh damn good idea {pDs} Lead Salad has changed their name to {pDs} Lead Salad (is a girl) Jessica343: hahah

The most remarkable trick I have is that one of my mouse's thumb-buttons is mapped to "last weapon" and the other is mapped to slot3 (melee). It's also set up for nade-cooking (gravity+grenade slot) in HL2. Other then that, it's all stock controls. Win Cookies Awarded: 7 (bawwwwww)

I don't use any scripts or funny crosshairs. Only thing I use is a custom control configuration that Remaps all the controls to different buttons and harkens back to an old Quake DM control scheme. Its basically a backwards wasd... F=forward G=strafe right D= Strafe left v= Back Mouse2= jump Mouse 1= Fire All other spurious actions liek quick change weapons have been remapped around this basic config. I can switch back to a Wasd config interchangibly because i used to have to for DM LAN tourneys where they sometimes prevented you from reconfiguring, but I am definitely more comfortable with my own config. I put the mouse sensitivity up really high because I don't have a lot of room for my mouse on my desk. If you play a really long time with the sensitivity high you get really good at aiming.

My custom config:
bind t say 'START TEH REACTOR'.
My kill-death-ratio has skyrocketed as a result.

Turned up mouse sensitivity mapped talk to shift That's about it. I love the twitch satisfaction of being fast over the my love of increased ease afforded by scripts. Rainbow Six got me into mapping everything around the arrow keys, using the homepad and left side of the numpad for various actions, but that got old fast with half-life. Safety + Peace

I totally reconfig all the controls in every game I play, esp FPS. I like to use the arrow keys and the mouse side buttons for jumping and sprinting and high mouse sensitivity (10) Quote:Posting related image due to my inability to formulate an intelligent response. :) I thought that was a failure reactor. A Dynamo built by Saber to generate and refine his shame into crystals that he can package and distribute to school children to smoke. Quote:
