I Need To Find An Admin:Server Admins are listed under the Administrators category of the WDFNews Steam Group, found here: www.SteamCommunity.com/groups/WDFNewsGamersBe sure to check there first to msg an admin that's online. You will be able to reach someone more quickly that way rather than posting in the forums. If none of the admins are online, create a thread in the Server Abuse Report Forum explaining your need. It's definitely not the quickest, but it will go a long way to getting our attention. If the problem is regarding a specific player, please include his Steam ID (e.g. STEAM_0:0:136650) and screen name in-game. The admins will be on the lookout in the future if we missed him that time. If at all possible, record and submit a demo of the person's conduct to the WDFNews SteamBans Team, and we may be able to take corrective action immediately! SteamBans InformationBy joining our SteamBans Team, "Penguin Doom Squad," you can submit demos of cheaters to SteamBans and help get cheaters globally banned. First, go to http://www.steambans.com and sign up. Then go apply to join the WDFNews SteamBans Team. Please read the requirements for submitting a SteamBans demo prior to doing so. There are some special needs such as running the sb_status command during the demo. This info can be found on both the SteamBans website and in our Server Abuse Report Forum. Thanks for your vigilance! I Want To Become An Admin:So you'd like to join our scrappy ranks and become a Server Admin on the Tempest servers? Please read on if you think you have what it takes! Anyone who meets the requirements can become an admin, not just members of clan {pDs}. Server Admins are tasked with enforcing the rules on the servers and keeping them fun places to play. As an admin, you'll have the ability to kick, ban, gag and mute violators, as well as a few other tricks. When all the below requirements have been met, the current Server Admins will hold a private vote and discuss your candidacy. Votes typically last one week, and you will be informed of the outcome via the forums when all's said and done. RequirementsWe have three formal requirements that you must meet as well:
- You must actively play on the Tempest servers. If none of the current Server Admins have ever played with you, it becomes much harder to judge your play style and demeanor.
- You must have been active in this community for a minimum of 2 months (measured by your first post on these forums). This way the current Server Admins can have had a chance to get to know and play with you, so they can cast an informed vote.
- A current Server Admin must nominate you to the vote and vouch for your worthiness to be an admin. Feel free to contact an admin in private or post in the forums, but be aware your vote will not proceed until you are formally nominated.
If your vote is successful, you'll be welcomed aboard as our newest addition to the crew. If not, don't lose hope! If you are not made an admin, you will usually be told any reasons why the vote turned out the way it did. More often than not, the admins just want to get to know you better, and you're welcome to seek admin again in a month or so. A final warning: while a vote is needed to grant you admin powers, no such formality is required to take them away if you abuse them. With great power comes great responsibility (and that somehow applies here). Server Admins have their own rules to follow on how and when to use their powers, so keep your nose clean and we'll all get along just fine. the main point of this comment, is to meet the requirement of having to be active for 2 months. i am sure any admin who has played with me would say it would be ok to let me be admin right now though.

Endyss lets update this slightly to activity measured in server time (like I mentioned in teh Admin forum...most of us favor the server time activity rather than forum login activity.
- On a side note, I have no idea who this person is. But this comment doesnt give me a good application feeling .... Quote:

well, i just want admin so i can kick people who switch teams on the zombie fortress server. that is really the only reason. and it has come to my attention that the new version of zombie fortress will fix that issue. and while i would prefer to have admin right now, it doesn't really matter any more.

well, i have been playing on the zombie fortress server for almost 2 weeks. i already have over a day played on it and over 12,000 points. it is the best mod i have ever had the pleasure of playing. exept for one little problem. mingers and team switchers. team switchers ruin the game for me, and everybody else playing it. i have heard that the new version of zombie fortress will fix this problem, but it won't fix it entirely (i think). some people leave the game, then join again within the same second and join red (human) team. i would like to be able to solve this problem if the new version doesn't.
i was playing the other night on a rare occasion where there was an on this server (who shall remain nameless) who said that he was an admin, but refused to fix problems saying "i don't know if it is against the rules." what the person was doing was, moving props in a hall in such a way, that blocked the exit from spawn. how could that possibly not be against the rules.
so, here are the options as i see it, to fix said problem. 1: add votekick and voteban 2: make the new version of zombie fortress fix this problem. 3: make a frequent user of this great server, and admin. aka me or sub_z or any other person who is there more then me. 4: if you have another idea to fix this problem, so be it.
i don't care which of these ones you choose, so long as you choose one of them. that is why i asked to be admin. because that was the only thing i could do.
::Side Note:: i have linked my signature to my hlxstats profile on your server. it says my activity is over 99.9%, whatever that means. anyway, i have done this so you can do a little investigating on me if you wish. also, here is my steam account http://steamcommunity.co...ofiles/76561197991340175 for more investigating. ideally, you would implement all of the "options" i listed.

if you want to be admin, make a seperate thread with your application in it. Cantrip wrote:When I die, I want to be reincarnated as a woman's jogging bra.

I Only really play on the zombie server right now, and i am not asking for admin on the whole chain of tempest servers. i just want to be able to kick mingers like this.
also, i am there all of the time. in the (roughly) 2 weeks i have been playing there, i have already racked up almost 2 days of time played. i am very loyal.

I was the admin he is talking about. There was a person who was in fact moving soda machines or couches in front of the blue team's exit. I did say that I didn't think it was against the rules...after all...the red team does block themselves in rooms all the time. I joined blue and had no problem what-so-ever crouch jumping past the obstacle. After 3 or 4 rounds of this happening, I did tell the "offender" to stop, he didn't and I proceeded to kick him. He didn't return while I was there (which in the last week has been a while). Gigabytex has contacted me numerous times and I have stopped what I was doing and had my son stop playing a game so I could come rectify the situation. I have given everyone a fair chance. When I enter a server I do warn everyone, then a kick, then a one day ban. If I catch someone I have banned before continuing to cause problems then a one week ban (but that hasn't happened).

I find blocking blu's spawn very clever,I would've never tought of it,and there's nothing in doing that against the rules.

it would be clever, if red was doing it. but, the person doing it was a zombie. all he was doing was pissing people off.

I like how the "How to" thread has devolved into a he said she said. K_Buz is an admin for a reason and has earned the respect deserving of that position. I have spent some time with him in the past, and I do not have a reason to think he is being dishonest. Joseph, welcome to the community. Let this go, and enjoy yourself. Also, look around the forums a little more and let people get to know you. You may want to see about becoming a member of pDs before requesting admin powers. I am sure you can see how that is a reasonable situation. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
