Last nite on Temp 2, there was a guy on red mic spamming a little recorded ditty that would been extremely inflammatory... 'n' word in a song that was meant to demean and mentioned something about killin 'em all or some such.. didn't want to listen, tried to mute but for some reason that feature didn't work...

Fortunately Jase was on and gagged him, however Jase wasn't (un) fortunate enough to have heard that little song incessantly for 10 minutes... or I'm thinkin he would have been (at a minimum) kicked....

Thanks for reporting on it. I'll watch for him next time I play. I was on last night too, I just didn't have my sound up very loud so I couldn't hear it.
As for the muting, that's typically the best way to handle a mic spammer. The point is to keep order, not "punish" people, so if a spamming player can be quelled by just muting instead of kicking, that's the way to do it. Admin rules permit Mute/Silence to prevent mic spamming, just not free expression of speech.
Jase acted properly in this case. While JAZN's conduct may have violated the rules on racism on the servers, he was also apparently mic spamming, so either muting or kicking would have been appropriate. HolyJaw wrote:In the end, everything Endyss said.

When I put on the mute rule I ment it in the way of muting the certain individual yourself so only you wount hear him but others will, Admin mute/gag is acceptable though.  ahhhh_crap wrote:no, splinter has ethics and whut has emotions

I did try to mute him, however it did not work.. dunno why.. it usually does. I only went to Jase when I figured out I couldn't mute it for myself. I am very glad Jase was there and handled the situation.

I would like to use this thread as an opportunity to thank all of the admins who have helped us out - I know that I can count on you guys to help with whatever we need. Splinter restarted #2 the other night for us as the lag issues were pretty much awful, and Cantrip was there with a can of ban when there were stupid mic spammers making life miserable for everyone (in addition to acting like a dick in general).
