As we continue to grow, we are now forced to put limits on who can and can't join our ranks. This does not apply to current {pDs} members.
There are now basic requirements to being eligible for clan {pDs}. They are as follows:

1.  You may apply at will, but only applicants who have played a good amount with current clan members will be accepted. Those who have shown true interest in becoming one of us. We do not accept players based on skill level. I don't care how "l33t" you are at sniping. We accept players on who they are. The good, friendly, fun-loving people are in. The aggressive disruptive people are usually out.

RECRUITMENT PHASE:

We have now been forced to bring our recruitment phase. When you apply for {pDs} you will be placed in recruitment status. This phase lasts for two weeks. After two weeks we'll have a clan-wide vote that lasts for 7 days (so everyone can vote).

We will then inform you if you have made it or not. Use the two weeks to get to know everyone and show us the kind of person you are. It will greatly improve your chances of acceptance if you utilize these forums as well.

Get Involved!

There are multiple ways to get yourself involved as a new member.

  • Utilize These Forums! WDFNews.com is where all of our members come to:
    • Communicate with each other on clan related issues.
    • Post funny or thought provoking threads in the Nyquil Bar, our "Anything Goes" forum.
    • Ask ask questions and/or make suggestions for the various game servers provided. {pDs} members have a huge say in how our servers are operated. While not all members receive admin powers, they all have a voice in how things are run.
    • Simply Troll. Many {pDs} members lack social skills in the real world and instead spend their time refreshing these boards waiting for something new to pop up.
{pDs} is a clan run by itself. There are no ranks in this clan. There is no pressure to out-perform your comrades for the sake of getting some superficial power. Everyone in {pDs} has a voice on everything we do as a unit. People do, from time to time, step up as leaders for various activities. We encourage this behavior. However, if you're just in it for the fun of gaming with a great bunch of people and feel like going with the flow, that's OK too. Regardless, this is where we discuss the issues surrounding our organization. Use this to your advantage. Get yourself known.

  • Frequent Our Various Game Servers! WDFNews.com hosts a variety of gaming servers that provide a place for the {pDs} clan to get their nerd on. Many members play in the WDFNews.com servers exclusively. Playing in the WDFNews.com servers is a great way to let the guys in {pDs} see how you play in-game. It let's them get a feel for the type of player you are. While skill isn't important to us in the membership process, the kind of attitude and overall personality you have in-game is. Again, use this to your advantage. Our server IP's are listed in the descriptions of their respective forums.

3. Age Limits. Yes, yes, age limits can be a quick turn-off for potential clan hopefuls. We decided to impose an age requirement due to some younger, now ex-members, behavioral issues which lead to some nasty little public relations incidents. The clan, as a whole, decided on 16 as the minimum age of applicants. However, we soon realized that maturity comes to people at different times. We then realized that many adults are just as bad as young children.

My point? While we recommend that you meet the age requirement of 16, we will still consider your application if you are below that age. Feel free to apply.

4. Play as a Team. While we are a fun clan first and a competitive clan second, we do still try and practice squad team-play whenever possible. Some major turn-offs for potential members usually include going lone ranger style or generally being more concerned with your K:D (Kill:Death) Capture flags together, communicate... play as an active squad.

5. "Don't Be A Dick!" This should pretty much speak for itself. There's a fine line between ragging on someone playfully and light-heartedly, and being a complete fucking asshole. This includes behavior on:
  • Our Forums
  • Our Servers
  • Other People's Forums
  • Other People's Servers
  • Anywhere else where you might associate yourself with {pDs}.
We strive to maintain as friendly a relationship as possible with our neighbors in the gaming community. We ask that you act in a way that doesn't degrade the clan as a whole. Reputation is important and we're proud to maintain a friendly one.

6. Own the Games! We're gamers. This means we take days off of work when a much anticipated game is to be released. We fake sick from school to get in a few more hours of fragging. We piss mom and dad off when we stay up all night unleashing zerg rushes on unsuspecting enemies... the list goes on. Whatever type of gamer you are, one thing is almost certain: "Not Enough Minerals"... or... cash. Games are expensive... and no one has all of them. However, we do ask that you make an attempt to acquire the games which we are currently getting our frag on in. These games include:
  • Eternal-Silence (Free HL2 Modification. Please Visit www.eternal-silence.net For More Information)
  • Team Fortress 2

The above games are currently what we have servers for and consider what we specialize in as a clan. However, there are clan members who play Fortress-Forever, HL2MP, DoD:S, and CS:S.... as well as games like Crysis. The thing about {pDs} is that there are so many of us, you can almost always find someone to play a round of something with... at any time.
Some {pDs} members also play Eve-Online, World of Warcraft, and Ogame. However, these games are not as essential to {pDs} as a whole. Generally {pDs} is primarily focused on Half-Life 2/Source based games.

The above are the basic guidelines we have for people wishing to join {pDs}. We hope you'll consider joining us.

{pDs} Members Code of Conduct

The Clan reputation: It is each members responsibility to see the good name of the clan is maintained at all times by adhering to this code of conduct and regardless of whether playing on a server of WDFNews.com's or elsewhere. Any actions by members that may result in the tarnishing of the clan reputation must be reported as a result.

NO CHEATING! It is expected that {pDs} members do not resort to cheating (i.e. hacking, using exploits, glitching, spawn camping or any other measure that gives the user an unfair advantage). {pDs} members must always play honorably. A member who is found cheating will be asked to leave the clan.  Excuses will not be tolerated. You are responsible for your account. It doesn't matter if your friend was cheating on your account, or your brother installed it on your computer. You are fully responsible. All members found cheating or VAC banned will be removed from the clan and no longer allowed to play on the servers.
(remember, the admins are separate to the clan and will not give {pDs} members preferential treatment)

Fun loving: We are here to have fun, and in-game performance always comes second to this. As such, no member should ever come under fire for under performing. Members are expected to be helpful and friendly to those in need.

Scrim/Match Play: If you sign up for a scrim you must give at least 24hrs notice if you are unable to make it. Don’t sign up if you aren’t 100% sure you can make the scrim.  Players who give their word to show up and leave the team captain high and dry shall be suspended from scrim play for one scrim. Players who miss more than three scrims in which they have signed up for over the course of two months will be subject to a clan-wide Vote Kick. Your continuous lack of effort to live up to your promises is a sign that perhaps you lack the respect for your fellow clan-mates that we expect from a {pDs} member. This does not apply if you provide 24 hour notice prior to the scrim that you will be unable to attend. Emergency situations in which you are unable to attend will be handled on a case by case basis.

Name and tag use:
Members must use the name that they initially joined the clan under while wearing the {pDs} tag. You may ask to have your {pDs} name changed by contacting WDF?

Dual Clanning: {pDs} Members are not allowed to join another clan for any Half-Life related modifications. Games outside of the Half-Life and Half-Life mod realm are fair play, as long as it doesn't interfere with scrims or practices.

Inter-clan disputes:
If a dispute arises between two members they are asked to resolve it outside public domain (I.e. using Xfire, mIRC or the private forums). However, it is asked that they do not involve other members without having attempted to resolve it one to one in an amicable and non-confrontational manner.  Disputes shall be posted in the {pDs} private forum ONLY. Disputes posted outside the {pDs} Private forum will be promptly deleted.

Act with Maturity: Members are expected to conduct themselves with a certain amount of maturity. Act accordingly.

The Mandatory Requirements of Members:
ALL MEMBERS MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

The Games:  Team Fortress 2, Eternal-Silence (This list may grow or diminish depending on what’s popular at the time. All members must own at least one of the listed games. You must have your own Steam account. Do not share steam accounts!.)

Steam Group: You must join the WDFnewsgamers steam group. The link can be found in any of the server forum.

Additional requests of members conduct:

Leave of Absence: Show a bit of consideration. Please create a leaving post if you plan to quit or go on hiatus from clan {pDs}. This helps us keep track of who's a current active member and who's not. It is tough keeping track of so many people. Please show us some respect.

Respect for the Opposition: Treat all other clans with respect. Even if they are confrontational there is no need to stoop to their level. This includes using team-chat only during scrim play.

The WDFNews.com Servers: When on the servers, it is important that members of {pDs} make non-members feel welcome and ensure that the non-members have fun too. We aim to make the WDFNews.com servers fun for all and as popular as possible. Therefore those who frequent the servers should always be treated well by {pDs} members. At no time should members become abusive to non-members on the servers! Even if those guests are not playing in the most desirable manner.

Help The Noobs: When you see a player struggling to adapt to a new map, a mod we're running on one of our servers, or just getting used to the game altogether, please go out of your way to help them adjust. You may end up getting killed a few times typing, but you'll be helping someone have a better time playing in the WDFNews.com servers, which, subsequently, will encourage them to return.

Keep the Teams Even: When on the WDFNews.com servers, {pDs} members are expected to keep an eye on the teams at all times to ensure the game remains even, switching sides if necessary. {pDs} members are required to divide themselves up between both teams to ensure a fair game. This is a must!

Recruiting Policy:

It is the duty of all {pDs} members to actively recruit new members whenever they are playing. However, all recruitment must be handled tastefully. No megaspam will be tolerated and will attract the wrong type of player. Also, all {pDs} members are required to adhere to any admin requests to discontinue recruitment in servers other than the WDFNews.com ones.

{pDs} members are then responsible for mentoring the new recruits, ensuring the recruits are familiar with our rules and practices and that they have Xfire, Teamspeak, and are comfortable using our forums.

Update: After a lengthy discussion with Grumpy, we have decided to do away with the recruit process altogether. The clan is now open-door again.
