Ah, NS2 would be fun. There are servers and stuff with people in them. I'm not sure what it requires, but I certainly enjoy it. I still vote for TF2 and CS:GO. As far as server configs go, I really enjoy the Lotus servers, with a few exceptions. Pros: They have lots of voting options such as votekicks and votebans and votemutes. This would lower administrative duties, while we were away. They have stat tracking, but in the background. People like stats. The game is vanilla config, so spawning is longer but the games are more balanced. Cons: The maps go on for way too long, imo. Also, a lot of their servers are 24/7 of one map. I'd prefer more payload and attack/defend maps. I'm not sure what else to say on this subject. I enjoy playing TF2 the most out of all the games we mentioned, and I strongly agree that a single focused server would be better than a crapton of different servers at this point. I might even argue that a single server per game would be better overall, even if there would be a demand for more space. I love BF3 though. I'd totally admin the shit out of a server, but I think I'd be a little harsh on kiddies who use the USAS/Jackhammer. Expanding into having lone servers for other games sounds like a good idea. One of the tricks will be to cross-sell; if we have both a TF2 and a NS2 server, for example, anyone who plays both will find the community here that much more fitting. I think that's one of the problems we have, being as associated to TF2 as we are--there are few games like it. It makes it hard to figure out what other games our community is likely to accept. While TF2 unites us, a few gravitate to BF/BC games, others to Crysis, others to MMOs, maybe even to MW. Left4Dead is probably the "closest" to TF2 in terms of community support, but the nature of multiplayer in that just doesn't work well. And it certainly doesn't gain loyalty or members. NS2 looks like it might bridge the gap pretty well. I can see both TF2 players and BC/NW-like players appreciating elements of that. If it works and gets us attention, then it might become increasingly viable to put up a TF2 server again and maybe branch into BC. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. And I tend to think too much. For now we need to focus on one server for one game that's likely to be supported by our existing members, and be popular. Once the community grows we can see what directions are best.

Old forum should definitely be archived. One of the saddest moments in memory was when we lost all of the data from the original forums. So many memories with people long lost that I cannot recover. This forum alone has 20k+ posts. While unimportant to the rest of the world, this is a piece of all of our history. Also... LOL: http://web.archive.org/w...dufuk.com/modules/news/

In other news. This month I let whutdufuk.com expire. RIP whutdufuk.com 2002-2012 Edit: Apparently I'm an idiot. Some of those links don't work. I'd encourage you to go back and look at the various versions of this shit pot. I remember when this club started off as a CS1.6 server. I think the future is in CS:GO if they actually release it this year like they say. I'd love to shootem up with some of the other old timers here. I've been playing 1.6 and some CSS with a group and it's still a ton of fun. If CS:GO is anything like that, it'll be the way to go.

WDF? wrote:1.6? Please. Try Beta 5.2 Fuck yeah. We started playing with clan [Mr] and PissedOffMonkey back in beta 4. Then we had this server, and later I think Mayhem came after that when cs was like 1.5. Fucking memories.

My server might be able to host CS:Source and CS:GO better than TF2, given the way it plays. The times the server lags the most in TF2 is when there's a long, perpetual battle with a lot of explosions and weapons effects in an open area. CS typically has fewer open areas, far fewer weapon effects, and far shorter battles. Point of fact... CS1.5 was the first game the server hosted, way back before I found this place. =P

If you guys host a GO server, hit me up on Steam. In fact, just come to Vancouver and straight up punch me in the face. I'll be there. Win Cookies Awarded: 7 (bawwwwww)

Yeah, I'm more confident I could get into CS:GO than NS2, since I never played a NS game. I use to be semi-hardcore into CS1.6 before TF2 came out. Never got into CS:Source, but never really gave it a shot when I had free access to it, and now I'd have to buy it to try it, which seemed bleh. Besides our familiarity with CS, if it was actually where things here got started, that might just be a better way to go. New and nostalgic in one. That's the kind of thing a community in this state needs.

I don't think I could ever get into CS. It was fun the first time I ever played it, but that game is way too vanilla for my liking. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan My Backpack

Of course... with 184913 different FPS games about modern war, maybe it doesn't have its niche to itself, anymore.

Hell, I've only been a member for five years and I'd certainly miss some memories. It's been a ride. Sometime when I get downtime at college I like to get back on the forums and read the past. Good times, guys. This is probably the best gaming community I've ever been a part of. Thanks WDF?.

Maybe 10 years ago the game was relevant, but there's been a few changes since then. Its a formula that works, to be sure. Its the #1 game played on steam pretty much all the time. Besides, any game with a gun that's a one hit kill even if hits your hat is a no-go for me. I freaking hate stuff like that. LULZ I HAZ THE BESTEST GUN U LOSE. Yeah, it took me a while to get over that. I usually don't like being that vulnerable, but I got use to it eventually. It definitely promotes a kind of teamwork you don't need in most other FPS'ers. Maybe we should be playing CS to practice for the TF2 tourny. =P
