So I made an account and tried it out. Verdict:

PROS:
Even with a shitty laptop you can run games at wonderful GFX settings.
There are time trials where you can play the full game for 30 minutes completely free before deciding if you want to buy the full game or not. There are several ways IE pay to play for 1-5 days or just buy the full game.

CONS:
Since I'm on wireless there is still somewhat occasional connection problems.
Even with top notch graphics, there is still some tearing that happens now and then.
A very minimal amount of gaming selection to choose from but it only just released.
Lag is very noticeable in the controls especially with the mouse.

Despite all that it seems the game itself runs silky smooth, I've only tried playing the AvP time trial. I don't have any games and I probably never get one from OnLive. Ill stick to steam and stand alone games for the moment being. I just need a damn working PC >.<

This is where we pc gamers suffer a lot , It costs a shit ton more money to build and upkeep our pcs then console. They just need to spend a few hundred bucks every few years to get the best system that is always top of the line till the next gen is released

Online could be the solution to this problem if we had better technology to support it but like you said some complain about the lag in the controls which is worse in games you need them in like racing games

Even if i had the money for all the consoles i don't think i could go out to the stores and buy games anymore , Steam has corrupted my brain and i find it offensive to pay full price for (most) games anymore

Ah, I see. That input lag has got to be totally killer. =(

Also, for the very first time I can see what the heck your avatar is, Splinter. Its the hat, now I see. ITS ALL CLEAR TO ME!

I'd just stay with a PC. Ask for lots of computer parts from everyone you know! Maybe you'll get lucky. =D

Shadow is nice enough to sell me a mobo, duo core CPU, and some ram to go with it. I'm just waiting patiently till it arrives since I don't actually know when he's gonna send them and how long its gonna take to get here.

So yes, I shall be making a glorious comeback, just as soon as the parts get here.

Surprisingly I just tried Dirt 2, and I didn't notice any lag in the controls this time around. Although its not 100% perfect I think the connection could contribute to the lag. But like I've said before so far in AvP the mouse control was a little bit laggy only just noticeable. Since then I tried "The Ball" which is an FPS and the mouse control was pretty responsive, almost no lag at all.

This might kill heavy gaming rigs in the near future as OnLive doesn't require you to pay the big bucks for heavy hardware. As long as you have a PC with internet connection, regardless of shitty hardwear you can run all games on the highest settings with little to no lag at all.

I think OnLive will become a giant if not most likely take over all of gaming. With a little more time and technology upgrades coming in every year the laggy controls will not be present for very long.

The best thing to do is stagger PC upgrades. I never spend more than $300/year on my PC and I have a quad core Opteron w/ 4GB of memory. My video card is only a 8800GTS but if you buy the smart cards they can last for years.

Though I kind of just lied... I spent more than $300 this past year since I needed to buy a new monitor. =/

But yeah... plan small upgrades over time and your system should stay pretty current. The only time you might need to invest a lot is when upgrading the MB, since you might also need a new CPU. But even that can be done for < $300.

Oh wow... now I see it, too. I always thought it looked like some demon with flames coming off it, and never really gave it much thought after that.
