I would occassionally play FPS on consoles with friends who were couch captain video gamers. Halo, golden eye, and the like. I usually didnt do very well against them because its so radically different from my PC home. This would give them grounds to give me shit because of how much FPS they know I play and how it must not be paying off for me yada yada. This goes allll the way back to fucking golden eye on N64 that this shit happened. I would then enter a whiney bitching phase establishing that if I was matched against them on my PC and they were on thier console...that someone would have to call the police because of the savage raping i would give them ...yada yada. I never got the opportunity. Here I have some vindication, given Microsoft abandoned a cross platform (PC and console multiplayer integration) for thier titles. One of the suggested reasons they abandoned this attempt is because of the following: (cited from this source) "There was a project that got killed at Microsoft. This project was designed to allow console gamers and PC gamers to interact and battle over a connected environment. Personally I wish it would have stayed the course. I've heard from reliable sources that during the development they brought together the best console gamers to play mediocre PC gamers at the same game... and guess what happened? They pitted console gamers with their "console" controller, against PC gamers with their keyboard and mouse.
The console players got destroyed every time. So much so that it would be embarrassing to the XBOX team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative. Is this why the project was killed Who knows, but I'd love to hear from anyone involved --- what happened?

I read that article and cackled. I hate shooters on consoles with a passion, and I hate that games I might have really enjoyed, like the entire Halo franchise, have had their gameplay and control schemes dumbed down to frat-boy analog stick levels. I, for one, think they ought to release a game or two like that anyway. You know it won't keep the Xbox owners from playing, and getting mauled, over and over. To my knowledge, there was only one game released that supported this system--Shadowrun (Which I own and still have not opened). Safety + Peace

I remember back when I was playing Doom (or maybe Doom 2) on a local gaming BBS. I was a keyboard player. Never thought to be otherwise. And then I started getting ass raped by other people who were using a mouse. They'd just slide around me, laughing at me over the phone. Oh how I would love to do the same thing to console gamers who think they're such bad asses...
