Release is Sept 21st, next Tuesday. Just wanting to get a roll call on who will be picking this one up. Maybe we can organize a game. Quote:

Sounds like something I'd rather "trial" before actually buying... but even then it's not the kind of game I'd fancy doing multiplayer for... maybe co-op... but then I'd probably just look inept in front of someone else.

I don't know about Civ 5... I've been looking at this elemental game that is supposed to finally be a sequel to Master of Magic. What differences would I find between the 4th and 5th installments of Civ?

I know Duck has it preloaded and ready to go on release. I'll watch him play and maybe buy it myself once we get our wireless up and running. wrote:{pDs} TitaniumPhoenix: We're Mexican. I've been playing Civilization: Revolution on my iPhone. Game has shitty instructions and I am confused as fuck by it. I read that it's a very true port of the actual Civ games. Once again: confused as fuck by it. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....

What differences would I find between the 4th and 5th installments of Civ? Oh you mean the Elemental that is so fucking broken upon release, so unbalanced, and caused so much outcry that the Stardock CEO had to publicly apologize and tell everyone to hang on until Feb 2011, when the fixes will be finished. yeah good luck with that purchase. Civ 5 has some pretty massive changes (read improvements) to 4. For one it has moved to a hex based system inspired by the old Panzer General game (which i loved to death on my playstation). You can no longer stack units on tiles either. Each unit must occupy its own hex tile. The ranged units now actually shoot at range, that is...they can shoot over a friendly unit to attack an enemy 2 hexes away. Lotsa other non military changes. Quote:

Once again: confused as fuck by it. Maybe a true port of Civ:Revolution for consoles and shit, which is a crappy-ass, stripped-down version of Civ4, IMO. I downloaded the demo for my PS3 and was appalled by it. The PC version Civ4 is far superior.

Yeah... that's why I want to "try" it before I buy it. Some of those things.. I'm not sure I'll consider upgrades. I actually got use to the unit stacking, and it allowed huge armies to move around easily. With no stacking... will you need to control each unit individually? That'd suck. Or it'd mean you can't have armies of the same size.

Super Penguin wrote:I would, but I'm going to be buying some Halo Reach for xbox instead...BUT I'M ANGRY THAT I LOST MY CIV4 INSTALL DISK! GRAH! Now I have to play Civ on the crappy iPod app... Think maybe you can explain this one to me, then? (It's the one I was referring to a few posts ago, right?) Like, seriously, the entire fucking game needs better explanation. There are like five different ways to win, and my main goal is to advance my individual cities, but... what the fuck. These wonders and great people and shuffling workers around to different areas to produce some random unexplained amount of gold and potentially get something built in earlier than 74 moves in one city but only 3 in another city and somehow I need to advance science but I have no way of assigning someone to mining just SCIENCE out of the ground all day and then I make treaties with these people because I don't want to be a dick but they're always putting me in a position where I feel like I have to attack them and then when I do I get raped by like six different countries and I need to expand but every time my civilization gets bigger than three cities I lose like five cities and WHAT THE BLOODY FUCKING BLUEBALLS IS GOING ON HERE?!?! silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I'll be picking it up if my laptop can run it. my desktop isn't looking so hot these days. Plus need to find 50 bucks....
as far as updates-pretty much every CIV has resulted in upgrades from the previous, and a game I'm always stoked with the latest version and get my money's worth and then some.
