Ah. To be replaced by "AMD"?
Figured it was just a matter of time...
Though personally I think "AMD" should remain for processors and ATI for graphics. Both popular names in their respective areas.

Apparently it's worht the multi-million dollar rebranding cost to unify them under one umbrella.

or maybe the writing's on the wall and they realize there's no fucking way in hell the AMD brand is going to win so they're consolidating their losses and banking on the one that makes money.

O_o
I've used AMD exclusively for my desktops since the K6-2, and it's market share and reputation as an Intel alternative has only grown since then.

Personally I think AMD is a bigger competitor for Intel than ATI is to nVidia.

+1

I think that while AMD may be slightly behind in architecture, they aren't that far behind, and the $ per clock is a lot lower than Intel, and their latest redesigned architecture thats coming out soon will do a lot to even the playing field.

ATI sucks though.
