First off, Sup doggies! Long time no see! Ive developed somewhat a personal life so ive dropped off the radar a bit. But i was hoping someone could help me out with an OS question. Ive finally decided to stop using a bootleg copy of windows... Im going to take the plunge and buy a legit OS, i chose windows 7 blah blah blah. Thing is I dont want to spend $200 on it like i would at bestbuy. http://www.newegg.com/Product/P...spx?Item=N82E16832116754Will this work? I dont have a Vista license so i can't do the upgrade or any of that jazz. I just wanted to make sure I am not buying a useless peice of crap before i sink some money into anything. Thanks friends! -Nate Not The Face wrote:nate burn in hell asswipe Lead Salad wrote:And he promises to beat up any suspicious negroes and their children as well. If you don't need to contact Microsoft for support, I suggest you look into buying an OEM license, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit run 131.99 at the egg while Ultimate runs 179.99. The difference in cost between the two versions isn't really worth it to me personally, but check out the differences between versions at microsoft's website.
If you are a student, you can get a student license for cheap through your university.
Also if you are a developer, Microsoft hands out a free windows 7 ultimate license at their developer conferences. I have one kicking around here somewhere.

I got Windows 7 Pro 64bit from newegg OEM, myself. Has worked great. Ultimate really is overrated. I always had the best Windows version in the past but with Windows 7, Pro gave me everything I needed.

Buy an OEM copy like everyone else mentioned. The only difference is that it can only license one machine and is "supposed to be for new builds" but there is no check or proof that you are ever doing a build. I have been buying OEM licenses for years from online dealers. Alot of small computer shops will sell them too. If you go to a Best buy or something they will just want to give you the retail for an assraping. - oh and good for you buying a legit copy. Seems as I get older, I very infrequently use pirated software. Its a character issue for me on some level, but alot of it is that I simply don't want to waste my time worrying about updates, security, and all the bullshit that comes with pirated software and its acquisition. I might be 30 but I'll sure as hell pirate software I think is overpriced. I can't in good conscience say Windows is overpriced considering you're using it effectively all of the time. You're kinda getting your money's worth.
