So I built a new PC back in February. In March I tried to play Portal on my 1080p LCD TV via HDMI, but my current graphics card is just a sucky one that's built into the motherboard. The motherboard that I have is an MSI 785GTM-E45. Model Number MS-7549. I had to run Portal on minimum graphics settings when playing in 1080p, but I am wondering what a good graphics card would be, so that I can get some better performance (and for a reasonable price). I'm looking to spend less than $100 though, as it really isn't EXTREMELY important to me. End Textblock. Going lower than that will cost you hair and brain cells. A friend of mine put together a very strong build, but cheaped out on the video card, getting an $80 bit off of newegg--it's now the bottleneck of her entire system. open up a newegg tab and enter your price range as below $200--you may be surprised by some of the deals you'll find for very real power. Dont buy a card under 100 dollars you're literally pissing away the money and won't be able to play any modern games. Spend an extra 40 or 50 bucks and get an ATI 5770. Great card that will run most games at maximum at solid framerates. I tested one out on Bad Company 2 and my FPS was a solid 70 in firefights. I'm the leetest one here

Okay, I'll probably wait awhile, I don't have enough money stashed up quite yet anyways. Thanks for the suggestions though, looks like the $150 range is the way to go. Quote:Razor: As hard as one might try no one will ever be able to pull one over on Super Penguin. Backpack of Win

When the time comes, I've had good luck with the PowerColor-made cards in the past, at least for ATI. I've gone nVidia since. But they were pretty nice.. usually more memory than base ATI models at competitive prices. I never did any OC stuff, though, so if that's your can of soup then I don't know where they measure up.
