So, I actually have to make some PDFs and Adobe's free version of Acrobat is limited/crappy. Any suggestions on a decent PDF converter or creator that doesn't fail? Quote:Razor: As hard as one might try no one will ever be able to pull one over on Super Penguin. Backpack of Win

I make my pdfs with pdflatex but in order to do that, you will need to learn the LaTeX markup language. Other than that, the only thing that I can think of off of the top of my head is OpenOffice which lets you save your docs as pdfs.

Crawdad was looking for a .pdf converter a few months ago. The best one that we found? A Mac. Belligerent Pimp wrote: The Man Society just suspended my man card for a week for getting rickrolled by Mrs. Mary Midwestern Housewife.

If you spend the time to learn LaTex, though, it's completely worth it. Lucky for me, I had a friend who spent a lot of time writing professional docs with it and converting those into pdf, so he was able to show me how use it within a week. Here's the link from the thread crawdad had, in case there is something else in there that doesn't get mentioned here. http://wdfnews.com/wdf_postst12940_Best-Free-PDF-converter.aspx Belligerent Pimp wrote: The Man Society just suspended my man card for a week for getting rickrolled by Mrs. Mary Midwestern Housewife.

Thanks for the suggestions, I unfortunately (or fortunately depending on where you stand) don't have a mac. So that's out of the question. But yeah, I will try some stuff. Quote:Razor: As hard as one might try no one will ever be able to pull one over on Super Penguin. Backpack of Win

Try PrimoPDF. The Mac sorta worked for me although some of my figures were not converted. Overall I've been very happy with this simple converter.

you can also just print to .pdf, on both macs and windows. helps if you have everything set up already and dont need to actually do any editing inside acrobat. Bah Weep Granah Weep Ninny Bong

So PrimoPDF works fine for converting, but does anybody know of a good PDF editor? What I was really hoping to do was to convert a scan (a photo) into a document on which I could type again. I think you have to convert it in a special way. I know my school has PDFs that let me input my School ID number without special software. silverwasp wrote:Be careful what you wish for... I have 10 younger siblings and I am only 20....

What I was really hoping to do was to convert a scan (a photo) into a document on which I could type again. Now that you almost certainly will have to pay for that. I would suggest only using pdfs as an output format and use something else like PNG, DOC, or ODF as you're working format unless you REALLY need to edit one.
