Hello, friends.

I've returned, as you know, to help breath life back into this place. While the transition back into my control hasn't been the smoothest, nor the most pleasant, I feel as though I'm back in full force.

Sirus is currently fixing the problems with the site per my request. The following are what he's working on:

<br> tag attached to hyperlinks
Password recovery
Forum email notifications

These are the only issues I am currently aware of. The "]" in quotes and the name in the subject field are two issues I've been unable to recreate.

Attaching files to posts works again. Please PLEASE let me know of more issues/needs/changes/fixes that we can address with this site while I have Sirus in a good mood. Who knows when we'll get another opportunity to have him fix things?

On top of that issue, I'm noticing the servers are pretty dead. I attribute this to a lack of care/lack of interest in TF2. We need to change this.

While you may not want to play TF2 (lord knows I don't), you should. Everyone should. If we don't make the effort to get games started in our servers, all of the hard work we've put into this place will be for nothing. I need people to make conscious efforts to get games started in our servers.

I'm asking you all, please, please help me. I can't save this place by myself. I need a serious effort out of all of you. There is a lot of holiday time right now, so the excuse of being too busy with school or whatever is non-existent (those with jobs are exempt from that requirement).

Please get this place going again. I'm asking you not only as the head of this community, but as your friend. Do me this favor.

Thanks, guys!

I've been bumping The Tempest every day and we seem to be able to get it nearly full, with most of the usual suspects from pDs, CMS, and GwDR popping in at some point.. Give it a week or two for people to come back from holiday and for people to add it to their favorites list and it should take care of itself.

Yeah, the holidays are rough, but there will hopefully be lots of new TF2 players out there.

As far as WDFnews.com goes, can we please change the [SAVE] to a [POST] or something? =D

Also fix PM's, since apparently they're broken.

Streamlining the bulk moderation would be nice too. Deleting posts one at a time is annoying, I want to take an axe to them.

The case for me, at least in terms of why I don't play in the server, is not because of lack of playing TF2. It's a combination of the maps we play on and the server performance. I'll be frank - I've never liked the performance of the servers. I think most rented servers I play on outperform The Tempest. I decided to give it a try the other day when you were playing on the server... and it crashed. So I left. I was playing on another Tempest server, and people voted 2fort. So I left. It's not something I'm willing to deal with when I can easily go to a reliable server.

So I guess what I am saying is don't expect to please everyone. Not everyone is always going to want to play on this server. I know that may seem obvious, but I am going to wager that I'll see another post in the future somewhere on the forum about how people are playing on other servers, and it will, in turn, only reinforce people's desires to play elsewhere. Details matter.

I believe I've fixed the performance issues... the crashing has me puzzled. I'm not sure what's causing it. I'm still working on it.

There were severe performance issues, but that was due to a ram issue on the server which we've resolved.

More RAM FTW. I've heard tell that the last couple of updates aren't playing well with sourcemod and causing some servers to be unstable. I don't know if this is the case here, but if it is, the beta release apparently is supposedly more stable. But this is just what I've HEARD. So don't take my word for it.

I realize I havent been the most active person lately on TF2. All of steam for that matter. Its been a hectic month for me. Everythings been piling up for me as a result of many cases of procrastination. (Dont tell me youve never had that) But, By this weekend I should be back up and fragging all of you once again (Drakhen). And I do appreciate WDF coming back to help out. Welcome back. (Finally)

And I've been keeping my spy-knife warm for ya. This post is motivation to get my homework done ahead of the weekend so I have time to hunt you down, or maybe just your medic. That's almost more fun.

Resurrecting old threads! HAHAHAHA!
That username in the subject field is more an issue with browsers, I think.

They try to be smart and end up looking stupid. They see the "password" field for blogs and think, "OH HAI GUYS! HERE'S THE USERNAME YOU SAVED ON THE SITE! I'LL UH.. PUT IT IN THE FIELD BEFORE THE PASSWORD ONE! K BAI!"

I have the same problem in a couple of my sites that has password reset fields half way through a form. =/

You would have to get Sirus off his ass to change the feild name. And whiles he's at it, the community has a list of about 15 things we want fixed. Which is probably why he doesn't want to start fixing things.
