so saber mentioned this in the portal update thread, but i kinda feel it deserves its own happy thread. PORTAL 2 ANNOUNCED via gameinformer Details * Release holiday season 2010 (theres a date floatign around for october, but we shall see) * Portal 2 is a full stand-alone game priced at $49.99 for PC and $59.99 for Xbox 360. * Will feature a single-player and 2 player cooperative mode. * There is a much larger set of test chambers than the original campaign that sprawl through never before seen sections of Aperture Labs. * There is an array of new features and puzzle elements. * Co-op features it's own unique story separate from the single-player game. * Co-op has it's own test chambers. * Co-op features 2 new playable characters. * The main campaign hosts a dynamic cast of new characters. * Glados is making an appearance. however, what does this mean for the crazy puzzles that valve left behind in the recent portal updates? well, thats where things get a little fuzzy. after the second portal update (the ending-changing one) a countdown timer appeared through the BBS. this expired at 10 am this morning, coinciding with the portal 2 announcement. however, this is not the end of things. in the announcement today, there were lots of letters underlined, spelling out "drattmann h0nee". this is a new login for the BBS. this gave way to a few imaaes hinting at co-operative play, and largely hinting that valves little game of messing with us was over for now. however things are still not resolved: the dino naming on the files, the possibility of a march 11th announcement, and the matter of there being exactly 26 files decoded into images (why 26?). I just realized that I will probably enjoy the game more if I don't read about the story line at all. I think we should all commit to this. You will all thank me for it in the long run. I got portal when HL2 came out and I never played it. After all the fuss over new content and a new game, I'm trying to decide if I should play the first one now. Is this game really that awesome?  King of Jeans I wanna be like Buddylee 007 for life

I was expecting a city simulator sandbox (or even some sort of story thing) where you're given a portal gun and told to have fun wreaking havoc or breaking into banks or scaring people in their homes, but this might suffice if there's a LOT of content to justify a $50 game as a sequel to a 30 minute game.

Don't give up on EP3, Gabe is receiving a reward on March 11th at GDC. The version that GLaDOS is on right now is version 3.11 or... March 11th. It's either we get a Portal 2 trailer or EP3 or both. Also, the Portal 2 Hub on GI is getting updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday throughout March. And also..., the antagonist is Cave Johnson, Founder of Aperture Science. The name dino is a computer term for old hardware. Everything found was using old tech (SSTV). Dinosaur was just a hint for the community to use old tech to decode everything.

All of this is great, but where is the Valve Hate? I mean...they are fucking releasing a sequel....to a Game they already made! Shit this is just going to be portal, with more platforms, pits, and computers. OHHH Wait. Pigeon came through for me. I just didn't see it.
