This morning my PC decided instead of pissing in my cereal it would take a big fat shit on my face. Now after completely re-formatting the drive, installing a fresh OS and updated for like an hour with what I would say useless updates, having finally restored all my basics of programs of what I use.

The fucker decides to completely break once again and not load. I manage to just get passed the large Windows XP loading page up to where your sopposed to select which profile you wish to login to. Instead the PC just locks for a good minute of black screen untill it restarts.

Booting in safe mode doesn't work.
Booting with "Last known bootable configuration" doesn't work.

This is literally the 3rd time I've installed Windows XP this month alone.

This happened to me as well after a recent vista update.
Scanned everything. Tested everything. Was not bad hardware or bad space on HD etc. I finally did the whole spam F8 or was it ...F9 and do a system operator deep scan. Once again it found nothing but it did reboot windows to a functional stability. I had to do this twice.

I suspect Gremlins.... the orginal WW2 Gremlins...not the 80's mogui version.

I hate shit like this.
When you reinstalled your OS did you format the drive first?
Do you have any atypical hardware? Are your drivers all up to date? Is Flash installed/updated?

Did you completely wipe the drive? If your having problems like that, I like to completely wipe the drive. All bits are turned to 0. A complete wipe. Goes over the drive three times. Although its usually not necessary, also, best partitioner is GParted.

I suspect an intermittent memory problem. Run this overnight to check: http://www.memtest86.com/

No need now. After geek squad fucked my OS, I decided never to return there with the rage I packed, and I didn't feel like going to jail. So since I didn't even want to return my PC there for a 2nd time I just now finished fixing their fuckup and re-installed my OS for about the 5th time now. I can say now that running my OS for about 5 hours now and it seems to be stable. Unfortunately my windows isn't updated at all. My icons are finally showing up properly, and My Computer "properties" finally shows up again.

Unfortunately now my nets are starting to gasp for air or something cause my nets are being fishy. My ISP STILL hasn't phoned me to set an appointment for them to get their asses here and completely replace my physical cable since that's what I've been told has to be done, since my modem is drastically loosing alot of signal strength due to the wire being like ancient old. When they do come and replace the physical cable I'm just going to demand that every cable in the house simply gets replaced cause I also have a vendetta against them for their piss poor customer service.

Update your BIOS. I ran into this issue at work with some computers after running updates on windows and drivers for our XP systems. Even though you haven't run any updates, it could still be conflicting with your current SP installed. I wouldn't run the .EXE with all your crash issues, considering if it fails mid update you can say goodbye to your board. Download the ISO to a disk or use a flash drive and write an auto boot .txt file.

If you have another computer you can use, I recommend you search your board PN and find all the drivers, and put them on an external. I still think this is BIOS or driver related.
