Virus what is your avatar the structure of? enzyme? protein? It is a virus, silly! Edited to say: Ebola, to be specific. Belligerent Pimp wrote: The Man Society just suspended my man card for a week for getting rickrolled by Mrs. Mary Midwestern Housewife.

Mrs. C wins the prize. The actual viral glycoproteins are the blue-green structures. The yellow structures are parts of a human antibody attached to the virus. This is from a survivor of Ebola. I changed the avatar from a much larger fluorescent micrograph because it was breaking Super Penguin's computer. (mine's still bigger than his though) "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. I know you'll enjoy this Crawdad: Structure of the Ebola virusand Stanford Synchotron Radiation LightsourceThis work has clarified not only the structure of the virus but also its mechanism for binding to cell membranes and fusion of the viral mRNA with the host cells. It opens up research into vaccines and drug treatments for Ebola which would block viral replication at the cell fusion stage. "I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smells like ... victory"

Anyway, I read the article and it was really interesting. Proteins constantly amaze me. I was really interested in that GP2 group. My uncle works to sell mass spectrometers to hospitals. His team figures out procedures for the hospital to use. He was working on some Hepititis-C stuff for a while. Really interesting. Anyway, neato. My brain feels healthier.
