I bought it, played it, decided it really was more of the same. I'll probably play it a lot some day in the future, but I'm burned out from L4D. I played that for a month straight with some friends trying to get "What are you trying to prove?" as well as all the other hard ones.
Whut, you're basically arguing that people who played Half Life got ripped off by Half Life 2, and anyone who buys Half Life: Episode "x" is being ripped off more.
HL2 was exactly the same as HL1 in terms of basic concept. First person shooter - shoot stuff, blow stuff up. Silent protagonist interacts somehow with the rest of the world. Yes, there were graphical improvements and silly physic puzzles, but it was the same.
However, that would probably be the best value upgrade in the Half Life series. Anyone who buys the Episodes are wasting money.
And yet, we're all Valves whores, because they make freaking good games. Dammit.
Didn't buy it full price. Didn't buy it for PC. Bought it at $40 on the PS3. I never bought the first MW, been wanting to but I knew a new one is coming up soon. I've never bought WaW or any other COD series game besides MW2. Also, I've watched friends play it. Again, L4D2 is a good game and all but it's just not worth the price that it's at for a expansion.
HL2 Episodes are is a way for valve to break the game up so it doesn't take years (in valve time) to finish the next HL game, also it's not full price, episode 2 came with TF2, Portal, along with the rest of the HL series (besides HL1). On the other hand, L4D2 is the same game as L4D like HL2 and all it's episode, but, you paid $49.99 + tax, I paid nothing to get HL2 and it's episode but whoever bought it for me basically paid 10 bucks for each game (TF2, Portal, HL2, HL2:EP1, and HL2:EP2).
Also, it's not like I have money trouble in this messed up economy. It's just that I still have TF2 to keep me company, I can wait till it drops.
