Wow.

Jimmy Sullivan. You'll recognize him as The Reverend, drummer from Avenged Sevenfold. Highly regarded. 28 years old, dead in his home. Apparently, it's from natural causes.

Message to God: haven't you taken enough good musicians' lives this year yet? You've got to be fucking kidding me.

I'm tellin' ya...we need a Dead Pool for 2010...

http://www.wdfnews.com/w...ned-Dead-Pool-2010.aspx

It's all set up...there have been 2 entrants, but not even 1 complete entry, and the celebs keep dropping like flys! Tell ya what...I'll even allow entries until 11:59 p.m. Jan. 7th, 2010. If no more interest is shown by then - beyond what has already been submitted - so be it...I'll forget I ever thought about it and write it off as just another bad idea shot down by joyless poons...You, yes YOU can be the picker of potential celebrity deaths. Step 1. submit picks. Step 2. celebrity dies. Step 3. ??? Step 4. Profit!

Oh and...that poor drummer...drugs'll end ya, son.

sweet. football is a waste of public money and it produces nothing but moronic burger flippers, and maybe the occasional BFA, CPA, or once every blue moon, a professional athlete. I hope your school uses the extra money to expand its educational programs so our next generation might actually come out from under the shadow of India's, China's and Europe's superior intellect.

It doesnt waste public money, not in college football anyway. It makes money for the universities. Its a business that can be very profitable to them and its the real reason they do it. What you think they spend Millions on facilites and coaches just because its "fun"....no its an investment with an ROI that they are paying very close attention to. India, China, and Europe send all their students to our universities to be trained, so I dont see how a lack of educational resources at the university level can be an arguement for why our students educational rank is below the aforementioned.

India and China are going to dominate engineering and mathy things. America needs to step up in its creative areas to shine. MFA is the new MBA.

Fixed, honey. Love you! :)

LOL, and yeah, ditto on what my DH said, Lead. College football is a moneymaker for universities! If you've got a winning team they make money for your school as well as increase donations. I worked as a "Cowboy Caller" one semester during my freshman year when our football team was not a good team. This job required me to call alumni in the evening and ask for donations to the school. My typical answers from people who didn't want to donate (besides "I don't have the money right now") was "if you get a new coach in there I'd donate" or "when our team starts to win I'll donate", etc. Their reason for not donating was that they wanted a winning team. You can bet our current "Cowboy Callers" don't hear that excuse as much because we have a good, winning team! College football is not only fun to watch but it's also a business that brings in good money for schools if they have a good/great/winning/bowl elligible/BCS bowl/championship team! The better they are the more money they bring in!

Oh, and Lead, his school didn't actually end their football program, they fired their coach for locking a player in a dark room/closet/press room (different stories from different sides) because he couldn't practice with the team due to a concussion. It's a he said, he said story that is about to wind up in a courtroom because Leach is going to sue Tech's ass!

Sports still bring in good money for high schools. Plus, money doesn't go to programs unless its voted on, just as stuff like that if voted on for giving money to educational programs. I remember when my High school (at the time i was 12) got a new stadium, I think it cost around 1 million in tax payer money. However, it was only passed because it was put to vote in the district.

Most often times High School Football programs get most of their money from donations and fun raising. My High School football team did two huge fundraisers every year to pay for their gear, we didn't get extra money from the school itself. If the Science department had been as committed to fund raising as the football team had been, that would have been awesome.

I don't know of many High Schools where the School/District itself is pumping money into the program, usually its voters and fund raising.
