Super Penguin wrote:Does Faust Courier also employ marauders? Short answer: Yes and No. There are 2 Faust Couriers in the world. One does because it's alright with the matter, the other doesn't because there are issues involved with doing so. Long answer: They "used to", but now they're 100% about deliveries, intelligence runs, escorts, and caravan runs. There are two owners to Faust Courier, Mace Faust (Update coming soon) and Iberian Sable. They've been doing this courier bit for about 13 years or so, and in that time, they've come to hate each other in a lot of ways. Because of that, they have two seperate Faust Couriers in two completely different places of the world. The branch Iberian runs does do marauder contracts and the like, but the Faust Courier your apart of -- the one with Mace -- doesn't. You'll find out why in the game. June 8th Moving to Mod DB! =DVHEL on Mod DBA few things to note: 1) I'm waiting for admin approval to be official. Once that happens, the fun can really start. In the event VHEL DOESN'T make it through the approval process (though I've been told it will), I have a friend who can help solidify the deal. Apparently, she has connections that'll make it easier for this to happen. 2) A forum will be up and going after the approval process is out the way. If you want to track this game that way, go for it. =P 3) Updates up the wazoo will be much more frequent. Again, it's more of a "if I care, I'll post" kind of thing. =P 4) There's a higher chance I'll find the needed help I've been seeking. This could decrease development time greatly. Only time will tell. 5) The art on display isn't anything new. I'll try and put up some of my super-secret-notebook-drawings-of-madness if I get the chance. 6) If you really love me, you'll at least bother to look at the new site or bookmark it...and don't give me that "tough love" crap where you barely touch the link, die from finger strain, and say "at least I tried". NO YOU DIDN'T! STOP BEING LAZY! Support, damnit! 7) I'm running out of ways to say "click the link and wait for the approval date". D= Till next time, people! Bon Voyage! =D Remember to eat your broccoli! EDIT: Finally fixed that stupid front page at the front of this thread. No more halfassed description! WOAH! June 12th If you build it, they will come! O=Proof that I know what I'm doing...most of the time. As you all already know, VHEL recently hit the Mod DB site, home to some of the worlds best mods and indie games -- and I have to say, my little game was received with many positive impressions, simply from context, within the first week. ...And then came the other. A new teammate.Out of a stroke of luck, an old friend of mine -- a really excellent programmer -- happened to see the page and contacted me. In a gut move, I asked him if he would like to lead the programming for VHEL since he had a huge interest in it way, way back. A few pm's later, he said yes, and we were already taking notes on our plan of execution. =D Though great, this means that this game now has to operate in a way that's 70% more prone to failure -- team cooperative development. Here's my issue with a situation like this: having a "teammate" of any kind over the interwebs means "great, now I have to babysit, bitch and moan, and hope the noob knows what he's doing, or otherwise, I'll have to do more on my watch". It defeats the purpose of having a team, in general. Dealing with someone who isn't experienced in any light, and I'm sorry to say this, is the WORST situation you can find yourself in, because no one will ever take charge and make diehard decisions, if not driven by the same level of commitment a project leader may have. You literally need a guy who's down right obsessed with video game development; who can take charge when needed, and is willing to be educated and/or hand out educated observations, with solid work that's rarely if ever questionable. That's a different story when your working with someone who's led his own projects in the past, knows his code inside and out, knows how to organize, and is willing to read every last word in a design doc ever written just to make sure he can deliver on a dime. That and what I've recently seen, my new coder friend even goes out of his way to challenge the very principle design choices to VHEL. I could only say this in my mind: "WOAH, WTF?! Touchin' my crap with your counter theories and flowcharts from some other galaxy, bitch?! STEP OFF! Gawd..." That's not just real dedication, people...that's love for the game. ='] *tear down the cheek* Right now, I'm getting him setup with the dev kits I've made over the years, so hopefully, you'll all see just what kind of magic he can execute. I can almost certainly promise you that good stuff will be coming extremely soon. Till later, my peeps -- keep it fresh! =O P.S. - Noobina, I gots my mojo back! XD Quote:{pDs} Muffalopadus [DI]: I like movies that were inspired by a true story {pDs} Muffalopadus [DI]: "I heard about this woman who saved her kids life by eating her own hands, so it inspired me to make a movie about a gorilla!"

TripleBam wrote:I've seen it it in hundreds of games, but I've yet to actually meet someone whose hands sway back and forth when they stand still. I thought about that a lot when I was working on this and the other animations. I ended up mimicking the pose and the animation itself in person to see if it were really something normal people would do. ...I felt like a twat with a stick up my ass... Khana works well with the arm swaying madness though, so I can't complain. Edit:Oh, and I revamped that intended audience bit. It now says the following: Intended Audience: Girls 16+ (and guys looking for tits) *Fixed* Now the embarrassment factor is slightly lowered! Yay! Now when you think about playing this game, you can say it was designed for guys in the lowest way possible! =D Quote:{pDs} Muffalopadus [DI]: I like movies that were inspired by a true story {pDs} Muffalopadus [DI]: "I heard about this woman who saved her kids life by eating her own hands, so it inspired me to make a movie about a gorilla!"

June 19th Better than a barrel of monkeys...not really.Lately, things within development have been "action-packed" (lightly speaking). Two confirmed, full time programmers, one composer who quite literally signed his life away to a project even I don't know when will be finished, and a girl who just...well...she knows how to dominate (hack) in TF2 well...though I may be giving her more power than I should here -- more on this later. "OMG! It sounds like you finally have a team of your own, Mr. 12! That's great! =D". Sure it sounds nice, but you people WANT these things to sound nice because of how much effort is being put forth, so I'm making a point now in saying that it is nice (sounding) on purpose for the sake of...niceness. I'm a nice guy -- that's what nice guys do: point out things that are nice for nice people, because being nice is uber cool these days, I guess. Anywho, this is what's up: - DYNAMIC CLOTHING ANIMATIONS! OMFG! =D Seriously people, this crap looks stupid awesome in real-time. I've never seen anything like it before...y'know, outside of projects with multi-million dollar budgets. Animations are coming next update. I promise you that this will impress. =D - Storyline dribble has been going through a lot of revamping because of serious gameplay stuff - Some 5 new characters have been created within the last 4 days. - Environments are coming together well and most of the art seems to hold up. - Play testing is being held off for a bit until a new stabilized team build can be fixed up. - A lot of the master design doc seems to be going through changes because of recent developments (I won't state what precisely). Let's just say that play testing and experimental AI builds have led me to newer solutions for gameplay issues. - My dog watched a program on the History channel about hyenas on her own AND she likes drinking from sippy boxes now (D'awww, how cute) Why Noobina will change everything I do from this point on:Right, so that new girl I mentioned was Noobina. Clearly, you've all seen me propagate false/probable statements and/or clams about her "legitimacy" in such games as TF2; and to be right on my point: no, I am not anti...merely a skeptic. A day or so previously to this post, she kindly offered to be somewhat of a assistant figure to this fair project that garnered some nice attention. My first thought was "man, after the BS I talked about her and how she hacks all day, she wants to help out and be my right-hand when I make decisions? Wow...talk about flipping the script". After a bit of debate and forethought, I realized that I did/do need that extra hand to make decisions. VHEL is a big project. I kill myself daily simply out of fear that I may not deliver the best possible work I can fathom. Little decisions bypass my train of thought all the time, so it's helpful when I'm able to discuss matters with someone else who's on par with every single piece of information -- or most -- that rolls through my head. More over, it's gratifying and good for team morale........and my morale -- I do cry at night. All that noted, Noobina might likely be the one to help put up wdfnews.com updates and maybe news updates on the MOD DB site, if I can't for whatever reason. More over though, she gives the "yay or nay" about various design elements that I introduce. We review said work, find a solution, then I go back into my cave and kill myself over a hot...drawing tablet. Broken joke -- oh well. GREATNESS IS COMING!!! SEE YA!!! =DQuote:{pDs} Muffalopadus [DI]: I like movies that were inspired by a true story {pDs} Muffalopadus [DI]: "I heard about this woman who saved her kids life by eating her own hands, so it inspired me to make a movie about a gorilla!"

July 2nd Who are you and what have you done with 12?Hello ladies and gents of wdfnews! This is my first update, so bear with me! First of all i'd like to say i'm very honored to be apart of this team and i'm excited to see how this game is coming together. Though I have only met the other teammates briefly, they seem to be as committed to helping out this project as much as the man himself. Which is great because Mr. 12 has been a very busy bee lately, hence the update from me. Also on that note, you might be seeing a little less of him for a while. He really needs to take time to continue his hard work without the distraction of getting pwned by me in TF2. :D "But, Noobina, how will we know what's going on with this marvelous game?" Don't worry, I will be keeping you posted, though, he might sneak in an update here and there. Ooo la laCan I distract you for a moment with this pretty lady? Isn't she great? Aren't the clothing animations spectacular? What's up, buttercup?I have been lucky enough to see some scenes in the script and, I have to tell you, I love this story! The interaction between the characters is something I really enjoy reading. 12 has been ironing out certain scenes and he has been kind enough to let me give my opinion. He has also been developing some of his characters a little further. I have seen him (well, not literally) slaving away, researching various things, continuing to put his heart and soul...and brain into this game. More great things are coming! 12 and company are presently hard at work with some serious programming and animating. I'm told there will be screenshots for you all very soon!

Oh wow, so many things about Mr. 12 and Noobina make sense now. This looks freakin' awesome. No, seriously. It makes me want to help you guys out, but I unfortunately have no skills in the programming or art. Also looks like you've got it under control. Also, I can't see the spiffy clothing animation you speak of. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. - Carl Sagan Aftershock Forums

July 7th
This is a small update showing a small glimpse into the world of Nor Prime. This is a brand new location -- likely not one you'll visit "this" game -- called Glecius. It's in the Darmus continent; home to some of the most hardcore Bhacrio and Ragnic imaginable. By my friend BunnyJen for VHEL. 'Nough said. Peace out.
