Stats won't transfer. Sorry. It's not even an issue for debate. Old stats are gone forever. Database ruined, etc. New stats will be online tonight with the new Tempest 1. Yeah, I am actively working on it. Yeah, it's shocking. Yeah. That sucks, but I guess it gives me the opportunity to snag the number 1 spot, that is until some else starts play. ;-P

considering I'm all for the monthly or quaterly resetting of stats...I'm happy with this news. Not that I'm actually playing much at the moment, but I can applaud a well thought out and enacted ideal, even if I can't currently participate.

I will second this with a secondary opinion of having a second server (whatever the details of that server's map cycle may be) without stats loaded. Maybe with some fun type maps, arena mode included, just for some variety. With that said. Thanks for getting on top of getting the server back up and working smoothly. I wish I could do more to help out, but with my lack of knowledge on server type issues, I'm not a good candidate for volunteering in that area.

I posted a poll and people agreed we should have an alternate way for points to be given and taken. My personal idea would be give kills 2 points, 2 points taken per death, 1 point per building destroyed, 25 for picking up the intel/capping CTRL point, 25 point loss for dropping the intel, 50 for capping the intel. A bonus of 1 point given for 2 + kill streak per kill. That way the point system will acknowledge more on a skill basis and tempt more objectives to be completed. This way there wount be points lost to thin air. ahhhh_crap wrote:no, splinter has ethics and whut has emotions

I've found that the points often add an element ( if a small one ) of overall motivation, as well as a fun jockeying point for players close together in the count. I remember holding high my card of #34 on the server. Like 2 years ago. ... Safety + Peace

People play on Tempest servers because of the points. We'd lose players if we got rid of points.

Lead Salad wrote:I still say just drop the whole fucking point system it's so.. well.. pointless. Agreed. Points seem to determine length of time playing on the server more than anything. It's extremely hard to find a good system that takes a multitude of different skill and contribution elements in a game like TF2 and incorporate it into a single output like points. I mean, the points will all run together and will just add up in different amounts and you can't really decipher anything about the player from that mass of points other than they were doing something that wasn't being AFK. If the stats system had different categories, like most lethal, most intel caps, most offensive and defensive, then I could understand that better. As soon as you add those together and make "top 10" overall crap, it really doesn't hold any ground. I can get points by spawn camping that add up and complete no game objectives. I can also get points by killing nothing and going straight for intel or capture points each time. The only difference is how fast that scale linearly. {pDs} Lead Salad: bike why did you change your name Jessica343: so I can get heals {pDs} Lead Salad: oh damn good idea {pDs} Lead Salad has changed their name to {pDs} Lead Salad (is a girl) Jessica343: hahah

Why isn't it enough for people to just try to get the best score of the team? Or the satisfaction from hearing people holler and congratulate you when you do well or your team wins? Points do have something to do with skill but they're too influenced by who plays the most. Whatever, not everyone thinks like I do..

Seeing how many point I can get in arround or trying for K:D of 4:1 insteed of 3:1 in a round is a huge factor in how well I play that round. That said, I am for reseting stats ever month or two, because as it stands its 40% a measure of how well you play and 60% how long you have played.
